Trump should renege': Iran deal faces backlash from conservative allies. Critics say the framework gives Iran huge financial benefits without requiring dismantlement of nuclear infrastructure

President Donald Trump's proposed Iran agreement is drawing sharp criticism from some of his strongest supporters, who argue the deal rewards Tehran before it has agreed to fully dismantle its nuclear program.

The 14-point framework agreement, unveiled on Wednesday, establishes an immediate ceasefire between the United States and Iran, with key provisions including the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, the removal of the U.S. naval blockade, temporary waivers allowing Iranian oil exports, access to frozen Iranian assets and a commitment to negotiate a final agreement within 60 days. The framework also outlines a proposed economic reconstruction package reportedly worth at least $300 billion and includes Iran's renewed pledge not to pursue nuclear weapons.

However, critics note that the agreement does not require the immediate dismantlement of Iran's nuclear infrastructure, the removal of enriched uranium stockpiles, restrictions on Tehran's ballistic missile program or the disbandment of Iranian-backed proxy groups such as Hezbollah.

Despite the administration portraying the agreement as a breakthrough, critics have argued that the concessions offered to Iran far outweigh the commitments secured in return.

So we’re supposed to believe that Trump is okay with Iran reconstituting its nuclear program?

Everyone is a critic. Trump should not renege as that would be a really big error.

We already obliterated the Iranian nuke infrastructure last year.

The critics are full of 💩.

It’s a crap sandwich of a deal. Trump thought it would be quick like Venezuela. He miscalculated. And didn’t realize Iran can shut down oil to the world. Iran won. It’s that simple.

The critics may be right - but they are a tiny minority.

Donald Trump usually makes the right decision in the end. He’s had me worried for weeks - but it looks like we are finally done with Iran and done with the Middle East, as he promised we would be when he first ran for President.

“What nuclear infrastructure? We bombed the crap out of it.”

Trump said we had “obliterated” the Iran nuclear program with our bombings, but multiple later reports made clear our efforts had only closed the entrances to the tunnels.

We also didn’t destroy the existing enriched uranium, which remains in gaseous form in those same tunnel facilities.

The only sure method of fully removing the Iranian nuclear threat and facilities would be a ground invasion and occupation, during which we could reopen the bombed tunnels, remove the nuclear components and fuel, and then demolish the tunnels to prevent future use at all.

Trump sanely recognized that the vast majority of American people don’t have the stomach (his phrase) for such an extensive and costly war.

Do you believe that Trump will do his absolute best to expel every illegal immigrant? That at least is a central campaign promise from his well-stated platform (unlike sneak-attacking Iran). Is illegal-immigration policy being implemented to our (MAGA’s) satisfaction? All I ever hear about from him (and the news) concerns the Iran War. What happened to securing the border and purging the country of those illegally here?

The only reason I posed my response this way is because if he’s willing to go soft on something so essential to his presidency, how likely is he to get squishy on something completely opposite to the anti-war stance(s) he took on the campaign trail?

Honestly this whole “Discussion” its not even a deal, its basically a deal to say we are gonna talk some more..this is going to go NO WHERE, its just to prolong everything til the gas prices go down and inflation drops before the midterms, then they are gonna bomb the crap out of them. This is just about prolonging it, it was always about that

There’s going to be a lot of tension in Iran between the moderates who negotiated the deal. with a lot of contingent incentives and some prospect they’re interested in helping the people vs. Republican Guard. Hopeful Trump can bring that to a boil while we have enough resouces in the area to help the moderates betray the Republican Guard for an elimination round.

Lying is the only “standard” with the Muslim culture. So, we know that war with Islam is still on the table. Why not get it over with whilst the fleet is visiting that area? It is a shame that that repulsive religion took over the Persians, which deserve much better.

Iran does not have ROE. We do.

The fight is unfair in conventional terms. We’re shifting it and finding new ways to achieve objectives.

We don’t want Iran. We want Iran to be a friend, not a state.

A poor, destroyed Iran will only make the jihad more appealing to the hundred million Iranians that live there. Look at Afghanistan for reference.

Rebuilding enemy states is what made it world what it was (is?) After WW2.

A poor and desperate Iran will end life on the planet.

Critics include the top levels of his administration (eg. Rubio, Hegseth), former supporters (Gen. Keene, Victor Davis Hanson, Shapiro, New York Post, Much of MAGA).

Any appeasers,? Yes: J.D. Vance.

Yes, I do believe Trump is doing everything he can to expel illegals. DemonicRATS are doing everything they can to thwart his efforts. He doesn’t have any control over what The Fake News Media covers.

No, let it play out a bit. I think the president plans these “agreements” with the assumption that Iran will renege.

Especially ignore the naysayers if Pence is one of them.
