U.S. Has ‘Nothing to Do’ with Ukraine War, Trump Says at G7 Summit

The Group of 7 summit in France was intended to focus fresh attention on the war in Ukraine, which has largely fallen off President Trump’s radar since the start of the war with Iran.

On Tuesday, President Trump dashed those hopes, making it clear at the summit that the Ukraine conflict, which he once said he could end in 24 hours, was no longer high on his priority list.

“Look, we have nothing to do with it,” Mr. Trump said of the war.

“It has no impact on us, other than we sell weapons” to Ukraine, he added. “We’re thousands of miles away.”

Mr. Trump’s remarks underscored a new security reality for U.S. allies in Europe, who for eight decades relied on American protection until the Trump administration made it clear that they should do more to defend themselves.

Mr. Trump said he had met with Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky, at the summit in Évian-les-Bains, France, where the two leaders also participated in a discussion with other world leaders about the war in Ukraine.

Mr. Trump described the meeting with Mr. Zelensky as “very good” and said he would meet with him again later. But asked whether he would have a “special focus” on Ukraine, Mr. Trump made it clear that he would not.

Though the Iran conflict would soon be “in the rear view,” Mr. Trump said, he was still for now “focused on Iran.”

Mr. Trump did, however, provide Ukraine some welcome news.

Now that he had reached a deal that could open the Strait of Hormuz, Mr. Trump said, he was more willing to reimpose sanctions on Russian oil. The administration temporarily lifted the penalties earlier in the year as it scrambled to contain energy prices that had soared because of the war in Iran.

We used to give Ukraine billions worth of aid thanks to the Biden administration. Now we have a more sensible policy - we sell them arms rather than giving them away.

I cannot see how this conflict works. The EU gives Ukraine money for weapons AND buys Russian oil so they can buy weapons.
If i were running things the first thing to do is cut off supplies to the enemy. This is a dumpster fire!

Trump has been at this for years, about 10 of them.

Trump is still pushing NATO/Europe to man up, we aid Ukraine to keep them capable but we still want NATO to keep moving forward into becoming stronger allies that rely less on us and start accepting their own roles as allies, not dependents, and stand beside us or even a little in front of us on some threats from Russia in Europe, rather than always behind us with weak forces, weak commitment, and weak on responsibility.

I think the point he was also making is when we needed moral help with Iran we got cold shoulder while they complained our action cut their oil access.

Trump is probably upset that Ukraine driving up the cost of energy with damage to Russian oil infrastructure. I just hope that if we do end up with IP rights to Ukrainian drone technology there is fair compensation for the startups that developed them under wartime conditions.

“I cannot see how this conflict works. The EU gives Ukraine money for weapons AND buys Russian oil so they can buy weapons.”

Its just like in Star Wars prequels where the two young leads steal a ship and find a hologram showing all the weapons the dealers are selling. The hologram shows an inventory of both X-Wings and Tie Fighters. One group selling to both sides. Making big money by keeping, and escalating the wars.

Nothing about this ‘war’ makes any sense. Its as if its fought for another purpose than to be won by either side.

It seems to go on convenient hiatus whilst certain parties take vacations and travel about for unrelated purposes.

I still do not know if the following is true or a lie:

A - We had 28 or more bioweapons labs running there?
B - It was a CIA/DNC money laundering operation.
C - Victoria Nuland and the CIA run their “Color Revolution” operations there in 2014.
D - It was an endless black hole dug into the ground for the free West to dump all of its defense weapons into until we are ALL finally disarmed for some larger globalist agenda at work.

The blocking of the Hormuz Straight caused the rise in oil prices. Thanks to Trump

Liberals want us to fund the military forces of Europe because they have depended on us for 80 years. They are the same people who become apoplectic over the thought of feeding bears in national parks because they might become dependent.

You are absolutely correct, it is polar opposite to say Russia bad then give them billions so you can heat homes and run your economy, in turn fueling their economy. The “sanctions” forced Russia to sell oil to europe at reduced price, real incentive there to cut them off, huh?

The whole thing is a sham.

I believe the entire mess is to construct a bad guy to distract their populations from realizing they are properly and royally screwed under their socialist, woke systems.
