My daughter in Minneapolis finally landed a good-paying coding job last yr. She has been paying off debt with the extra money she’s making, but I hope she’s been putting money away in case this happens.
All those coal miners who lost their jobs when Biden shut down coal and who were told to learn to code are out of luck, again.
She should learn to use AI to generate code. Right away.

That’s what happened to my medical transcription career back in 2010. Voice recognition started doing more & more of the reports we typed until after only 3 yrs it was correctly transcribing 90% of them. All our job consisted of was editing. They told us it would make our jobs easier, but in the end it took our jobs.

Any skilled trade. 90% of IT jobs are doomed. I saw it before l retired, fewer and fewer were needed as AI was evolving.
Very good suggestion. The data centres have huge power needs and the infrastructure to support them is extensive.
