Hegseth in D-Day speech warns Europe being ‘stormed’ by ‘dangerous ideologies’

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth urged European leaders on Saturday to remain vigilant against the threat of what he described as “dangerous ideologies” coming to the continent, invoking the lessons of D-Day to warn about modern-day immigration.

“In the years since these beaches, much of the West, in some places, in some quarters, and in some capitals grew comfortable, we forgot that freedom is not free,” Hegseth said during remarks at Normandy American Cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer, France.

The Pentagon secretary was in France to commemorate the 82nd anniversary of the Allied invasion of Normandy during WWII, which ultimately enabled the U.S. and its allies to liberate western Europe from Nazi Germany.

“Sadly, today different European beaches are stormed by different dangerous ideologies,” Hegseth said, adding that “boats and men” were arriving on the shores of Spain, Italy, Greece and Bulgaria.

“When will European capitals do something about that invasion, or is it too late? I pray not, and I believe not,” he continued.

His tone echoed the Trump administration’s sharp criticism of European nations for their handling of migration, which senior officials have argued poses an existential threat to the continent’s survival.

Vice President JD Vance railed against mass migration in his first major international speech at the Munich Security Conference last February, saying that “no voter on this continent went to the ballot box to open the floodgates to millions of unvetted immigrants.”

Vance, on Friday, blamed the death of an 18-year-old British student by a Sikh man on what he called civilizational decline and the failure to stop a “mass invasion of migrants.”

🚨 BREAKING: In a powerful moment on the anniversary of D-Day, SecWar Pete Hegseth GOES HARD against European nations who opened their borders to 3rd world migrants

"Sadly, today, different European beaches are STORMED by different DANGEROUS ideologies. Spain, Italy, Greece, Bulgaria — boats and MEN arrive. WHEN will European capitals do something about THAT invasion?"

🔥🔥🔥

"Or is it too late? I pray not, and I believe not."

"The men who fought and died here restored freedom to Europe. That freedom must be maintained by this generation of leaders and war fighters, or what they fought for, was merely temporary!"

"As our great President Ronald Reagan once said, freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction."

"You don't pass it to the next generation in the bloodstream. It must be defended by each and every generation. We stand by our allies, and we expect our allies capable and ready to stand alongside us. The heroes of 1944 did that, and may we."

PERFECTLY SAID. pic.twitter.com/MXr28otNFn— Eric Daugherty (@EricLDaugh) June 6, 2026

Europeans may be upset with migration but its Christians don’t share the religious warmonger ethos that Hegseth does...His warmongering would create more refugees.

And World War III — which I assure you, firsthand, Europeans have very little appetite for unless you count brainwashed Russians as European.

The “dangerous ideology” is allowing unfettered third world migration that will eventually overwhelm the native population.

The globalists who not only allow this but encourage it should be hanged.

Good and hard is what Europe is getting.

They’ve needed America twice to save them and their civilization.

America might say F U this time.

Some buzz that Canada could become an EU member down the road.

That’s when it gets real.

When will WE? My son lives near Dearborn. We often go to the range when I am there. It looks to me like they are preparing.

Europeans may be upset with migration but its Christians don’t share the religious warmonger ethos that Hegseth does..

Which might be precisely the reason Hegseth is raising the wake-up call. You acknowledge Europe's possible dissatisfaction with the migration, but do not acknowledge the underlying reason.

First, there is nothing "religious" about Hegseth's warning, he does not refer to any specific religion, he refers to ideologies.

Second, are you arguing that Christians must not defend themselves against a group that advocates they must be killed if they do not submit to that group?

It does not appear religion is even on the table, let alone taking up arms.

Did Hegseth quote from the Book of Tarantino again?

I saw headlines about that but didn't look into it further because I hate cringing and feeling secondhand embarrassment. I was hoping it was some sort of joke!

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth urged European leaders

Did they not get them memo or are they using their bias again? (Bias). Hegseth is the Secretary of War.

He is not a war mongerer. Quite the opposite.

He is trying to put an end to a 40+ year war.
And in doing so, it is possible it might bring and end to Putin’s war in Europe , as well as conflict Iran has stoked in Africa, the Americas and Yemen.

Iran finally succeeded in developing a missile that can strike not just the few remaining Christian’s in Europe, but even the US, a few years back.

It is not acceptable for Iran to have nukes and missiles to deliver. It is not acceptable to have other Iranian made weapons raining down on friendly country whose efforts are holding back the Russians and saving the surrender junkies in Europe from having their countries invaded as well.

Right now US just looks like (to many in France etc...) like it’s dismantling the postwar world order the WWII veterans died for.

European conservatives and members of the right in particular, don’t care for all the logical gymnastics US is using to justify the Iran War.

It was time to dismantle the postwar world order because we were subsidizing the welfare state in the EU because we are their bodyguards via NATO and then they opened up their borders to dangerous migrants from the Third World.

dismantling the postwar world order the WWII veterans died for

Europe in the 1940s saw an authoritarian regime taking over the continent. Germany, Italy, France, the Netherlands, much of Eastern Europe. All basically under one rule. Britain was able to be separate from the worst trouble on the continent, but Britain still suffered greatly. Group rights were emphasized, but individual rights were almost non-existent. Europeans looked at the Nazis, and many of them decided to resist and fight for a postwar world order that didn't look like that at all.

Look at the EU. Authoritarian regime ruling the continent. No individual rights. Britain was able to exit but is still caught up in the major problems. The current postwar world order sure looks to me like the Nazis won.

The US is trying to get rid of the postwar order because that postwar world order is destroying western civilization.
