SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The California High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority) Board of Directors today approved the launch of the initial phase of the nation’s largest track and systems installation efforts. An American-led consortium of Kiewit, Stacey Witbeck, and Herzog will install the track, overhead contact system, train control and communications infrastructure needed to transform the 119 miles of guideway completed in the Central Valley into an electrified high-speed rail system capable of speeds up to 220 mph.

After decades, and billions & billions of $$$, ""the launch of the initial phase of the nation’s largest track and systems installation efforts.""
So all of the time, effort, and BILLIONS is just the prologue this new, "initial phase."
Sounds like now they are really going to get serious about the grift and graft.
""The Track and Systems Construction Contract covers the 119 miles currently under construction in the Central Valley and extends north and south into the future Merced and Bakersfield extensions. Its phased structure allows track and systems work to begin as soon as civil construction is completed in each segment, accelerating a seamless transition from guideway construction to electrified high-speed railway installation.""
""To accelerate delivery and improve cost efficiency, the Authority has also directly procured long lead materials including rail, concrete ties, ballast, and other key components needed for track installation ahead of schedule.""
Schedule? SCHEDULE?
Meanwhile, the Kalifornia democRAT legislature is working on a Bill to hide the facts about The Train To Nowhere.
""The new state bill would limit public access to certain information about the project. Assembly Bill 1608 would bar the inspector general from releasing what the bill describes as “project weaknesses""
This last gem is from the Yahoo article below.

Already billions in and they made a decision?... Yay for them, give them billions more...
They’ll be metastasizing their ghetto scum in new record time.
With all the investigations catching the medical scammers and benefits crooks, the politicians have to come up with something new “without guardrails” to make their millions.
Those people are seriously FU.
Is this from the archives, or is this NEW horsepucky?
Let us give California credit where it is due—they issue great press releases.
If you actually want something real built in the real world you are better off grabbing all the animals in the San Diego Zoo and relocating them to the job site.
Lol.
Great. We can be stabbed in the neck by an illegal alien while traveling at high speeds, someday maybe...
Whereas the French built a rail system in Africa in a couple of years.
When was the planning of the California High-Speed Rail begun?
Fool them once. Fool them twice.....But fool them 5,437 times?
They can’t even get a house built where they burned down LA.
The Train to Nowhere......
The Real-World Project: California High-Speed Rail
The Promise: In 2008, California voters approved funding for a 220-mph bullet train connecting LA and San Francisco, promising a 2.5-hour trip by 2020.
The Reality: Plagued by cost overruns and construction delays, the current focus is an initial 171-mile segment between Merced and Bakersfield. Because these are not final destinations for most travelers, critics dubbed it the “train to nowhere”.
Current Status: Planners are working to extend the starter line and connect it to Northern and Southern California, though full completion is many years away.
I especially like this last sentence of the article knowing they are legislating obscurity.
“SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The California High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority) Board of Directors today approved the launch of the initial phase of the nation’s largest track and systems installation efforts. An American-led consortium of Kiewit, Stacey Witbeck, and Herzog”. The project has been a failure for years, wonder what the entities named stand to gain?
I didn’t realize this was Groundhog Day...
My knee-jerk response: Stuck on stupid.
But we all know what’s motivating this:
Piles of $$.
That’s also why they’re suing over the cancellation of wind projects by DJT.
Why am I thinking about Lucy and the football?
An American-led consortium of Kiewit, Stacey Witbeck, and Herzog will install the track
the launch of the initial phase “
Holy smokes all the millions already spent and they are just now at “the initial phase”? No one knows how to lauder money like the rats.
