Donald Trump’s Truth Social platform, his closely watched forum for public communication, forces new users to follow the far-Right activist Tommy Robinson.
Accounts that register to the US president’s social media app, which he launched in 2022 after being banned from Facebook and Twitter, are automatically made to follow a list of around 100 users.
It includes Mr Trump, as well as his son Donald Trump Jr, most of the president’s cabinet, and several controversial figures including Robinson.
The British hard-Right agitator, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, has courted the Trump administration and was hosted by the US state department in Washington earlier this year in an unofficial capacity.
The 43-year-old claimed his coast-to-coast tour of the United States this spring was aimed at drawing attention to the “cultural destruction of the United Kingdom and the destruction through mass immigration”, and said he was in America “making alliances and friendships”.
Robinson praised Mr Trump, JD Vance, the vice-president, and Elon Musk, the SpaceX billionaire, in a recent interview as “the only people fighting for our free speech right now”.
He was granted admission to the US despite convictions for assault, drug possession, mortgage fraud and contempt of court. The latter offence involved his repeated false allegations against a Syrian refugee in breach of an injunction. He has also led a wave of recent anti-migrant protests in central London.

When you sign up, does Trump send a US Marshal or someone similar, to your house and physically force you to to ‘follow’ Tommy Robinson, and stay there to make sure that you read every word, daily?
You can always unfollow afterwards so what’s the problem?

So far, it’s been a way to have the President and Commander in Chief speak on social media where he has no chance of your govt muting him or deplatforming him like Twitter and its govt coup co-conspirators did.
Of course, Twitter is now X and under new ownership due to their FAFO.
