Who is leading the race to replace Sir Keir Starmer?
The Economist ^ | May 15th 2026

Less than two years after Labour won a landslide majority, Sir Keir Starmer’s prime ministership is on the brink. Sir Keir’s flip-flopping has made him deeply unpopular and caused his party to sink in the polls. A battering in the local elections on May 7th has been the final straw for many of his party colleagues. Nearly 100 of Labour’s 403 MPs have called for the prime minister to stand aside and he has received five resignation letters from ministers, including Wes Streeting, the former health secretary.

Sir Keir has vowed to fight on. But a leadership contest—which would be triggered when 20% of the party’s MPs formally declare their backing for another candidate—now appears to be inevitable. Several names have been bandied about as possible replacements for Sir Keir. They include Mr Streeting, Angela Rayner (a former deputy prime minister) and Ed Miliband (the energy secretary). But according to the latest data from Betfair Exchange, a platform which allows people to wager against one another, Andy Burnham, the mayor of Greater Manchester, has emerged as the clear favourite.

Does it matter?

Great Britain is circling the drain. A muslim is their home secretary in charge of immigration and MI5. It would be laughable if it wasn't so tragic.

“Does it matter?”

Absolutely not. Given the collapse of the Conservative and Union Party (GOP is next) Starmer was the most they could hope for.

Whoever is next will be worse. Maybe just worse, probably a lot worse.

Party like it’s 1649.

My money is on the Muslim chick. Guy from Manchester is my second bet, but they have to give him a seat in Parliament first.
