Coca-Cola shutting down California facility after more than a century

A large Coca-Cola bottling plant in Southern California will shut down permanently this summer, ending a longstanding relationship between the company and the city.

Reyes Coca-Cola Bottling made the announcement in a May 8 WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification) notice – a legally required 60-day "heads-up" that employers must give to workers before a major layoff or office closure.

"We regularly assess our locations, products, and services to ensure we can continue driving sustainable growth and innovation across our business," a spokesperson for Reyes Coca-Cola Bottling wrote to SFGATE. "As such, we have announced the closure of our Ventura Distribution Center and the transfer of operations to our other Southern California facilities."

The closure of the Ventura plant will impact 85 employees, the company said.

Every day I hear of another business leaving a blue state. Democrats don't care. They think there will be plenty of businesses and millionaires left to tax. I don't know how long that will hold true at the rate they are going.

I know there is a website that keeps track of businesses leaving Washington State, but I don't know of any site tracking those leaving California.

Here is the one for Washington:

Well old hock it up Hochul has said it would be nice if some of those richies who fled could come back and give her some money. I’m sure the laughter from Palm Beach and other locales was well heard. Perhaps this was a small turning point.

Expect more of this. Once Woke-a-Cola told their employees to be less white and tried to force law firms that Woke-a-Cola worked with to hire the black lawyers Woke-a-Cola didn’t want to hire, it was inevitable their sales wouldn’t recover.

It makes sense. They are consolidating. It is a distribution center. Better to ship from where they make the soda.

“They think there will be plenty of businesses and millionaires left to tax.”

Yes for awhile, but sooner or later the lefty voters and business moguls are going to move to red states where the business climate is much better polluting the rest of us.

More land surrendered to the leftists. They’ll openly scream ‘victim’, while privately rejoice.

Last one out of California, turn out the lights!

I lived in the San Diego area from 1980-82. It was a mess even back then, so I can only imagine what it’s like now.

Soon lefties will pass laws stating that businesses cannot close or leave in their states. At the same time they will be yelling “Trump is a fascist!”

I only drink Mexican Coca-Cola. Distributed from Mexico. The American made Coke is crappy sucrose, and deserves to be shut down.

It's not a move from Cali. It's a consolidation … affects 85 people …

FTA …

It’s NOT a mistake - blue states aree intentionally driving away conservative Americans and wealthy Americans. It’s not an accident - it’s intentional. We’ll know ‘why’ in a few years.

True. This is not another case of a business leaving California for another state. It appears to simply be a case of a business adjusting to evolving business environments.
