Supreme Court allows abortion pill to remain available by mail nationwide

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Thursday ensured that the abortion pill mifepristone can continue to be available by mail without an in-person appointment with a clinician.

A ruling by the New Orleans-based 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on May 1 had imperiled widespread access to the pill. Now, the Supreme Court has granted emergency requests brought by drugmakers Danco Laboratories and GenBioPro seeking to block that ruling.

The decision, a loss for the state of Louisiana, ensures there will not be any disruption to the availability of the drug as litigation continues. On May 4, in an order issued by conservative Justice Samuel Alito, the court had provisionally put the appeals court ruling on hold while the justices considered their next steps.

I oppose it generally. But in some areas such as Ivy and California universities, Portland, etc... I would allow it to be sprayed from crop dusters.

It’s interesting that women can get a synthetic dangerous hormone without a prescription but they need a prescription for progesterone, a safe and natural hormone.

Considering the level of liability involved, the celebration over access to that stuff will be short lived when the lawsuits start piling up over injury and deaths.

It’s been available for several decades, few if any such cases have been brought.

You have to factor in the level of declining standards of manufacturers & distributors willing to cut corners to maximize profit and a public with decaying ethics and morality who will sue over any perceived injury to land a payday. Under these modern circumstances I wouldn't even want to be a vitamin peddler.

The problem I have with this is not the legality of ordering on line with in effect of a doctor on the other end saying this is okay and here is the script and take it to you local pharmacy or order from us is simple. This is an abortion and mostly safe but can be tragically unsafe and the patient dies.

Where in the hell is the doctor that signed the prescription as his or her patient is dying. "Did you not think about the morality of your actions? Been there done that and the choice was vague not to report. I did and made it my bosses problem. I reported it all in detail. i was politely told to shut up. I did.

A woman can choose to visit or not visit a doctor. If she doesn’t, it isn’t anyone else’s fault.

Those who profit from a drug designed to kill unborn babies shouldn’t have any standing in the Supreme Court.

If one can order abortifacients by mail that are banned in their state, then they can also order alcohol, cigarettes, firearms, normal capacity firearm magazines, knives, bayonets, fireworks, marijuana, lottery tickets, etc.

In other words; a state's law does not exist. What's legal in one state can be mailed to any state.

Can buy a pill to murder an unborn baby, but by golly can’t by Ivermectin to save a life!

These are results for what happens when women take the abortion pill mifepristone

Mifepristone blocks progesterone, a hormone necessary for pregnancy to grow, causing the uterine lining to break down and the pregnancy to stop developing. It is the first step in a two-drug medication abortion, often followed 24–48 hours later by misoprostol to empty the uterus.

What to Expect After Taking Mifepristone:

It prepares the woman’s body for the abortion by softening the cervix and breaking down the uterine lining. The process is completed by taking a second medication, misoprostol, which causes severe pain, cramping and bleeding to expel the pregnancy.

The abortion typically takes 4-5 hours after taking the second medication, though bleeding can last for several weeks.

Serious adverse events, including severe infection, have been reported. Women experience a wide range of emotions, including relief, sadness, or guilt.

How Does the Abortion Pill Work? - severe pain, cramping and bleeding start 1-4 hours after taking the misoprostol. It’s normal to see large blood clots.

U.S. Food and Drug Administration (.gov) The FDA has received reports of serious adverse events in patients who took mifepristone.

This is why those who claim victory when Roe was overturned are mistaken.

They said abortion belongs to the states. Well, we see that isn't so.

I heard that's why Dr. Mokarri resigned - he was "slow-walking" the medical review requirements and Trump had enough.

Seems he may not have learned the Pam Bondi lesson....
