Washington — As inflation rose to its highest rate in years and CBS News polling shows high prices at the pump are causing financial strain for many Americans, President Trump told reporters Tuesday, "I don't think about Americans' financial situation" as a motivation for negotiations with Iran, and said he is only concerned with preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons.
When asked by a reporter how much Americans' finances are "motivating you to make a deal," Mr. Trump responded: "Not even a little bit."

He can not sway from getting rid of the Iran threat, or an uncomfortable economy will be the least of our problems. (I do wish we could have banned Muslims as the president tried to do in his first term.)

You can always count on CBS to slice out a piece of a Trump statement to make it sound as bad as possible. Keeping the nukes out is well worth the price but the Trump haters have no vision beyond that hatred.

What the hell is he supposed to say to a reporter in a world wide broadcast that every one around the world will see? Oh hell yea I am concerned about it while I am negotiating. You never expose a weakness especially when dealing with tyrants.
Well if Iran obtains working nukes and sets one off I would suppose that may have a financial impact. (sarcasm)
America first means doing what it takes to remove the Iran nuclear threat. How is this so hard to understand? I would gladly pay $7 at the pump if that’s what it takes.
With how many Freepers on here denigrate the majority of big cities (due to being largely Democrat-run), you'd have a not insignificant contingent on here who'd privately murmur 'They had it coming' if it were the likes of New York or Los Angeles.
But all kidding aside: in order for your scenario to happen, one of the following would need to occur:
1) Iran would have to launch a nuclear warhead that we could not detect before it was too late. (Severely unlikely.)
2) Our own missile defense systems would have to be unable to intercept it before it got within detonation proximity. (Severely unlikely.)
3) A nuclear bomb would have to be smuggled over the borders and detonated in said city. (Would imply severe security failures.)
4) A nuclear bomb would have to be assembled within the country and detonated within the city by Iranian affiliates. (Would imply severe security failures.)
Meanwhile, we live in one of the most heavily surveilled societies in history...while simultaneously living in one of the most fraud-stricken countries in history, while simultaneously inviting hordes of foreigners who form ethnic enclaves with values that are antithetical to the American way of life. For any such Iranian nuke to actually go off in an American city, it would necessitate unforgivable intelligence/security failures, malicious intent to let it happen, an unfathomable breakdown of trust in systems due to the level of fraud, or some combination thereof. (Because let's be honest: realistically speaking, the only way Iran would actually nuke us if there were enough nefarious domestic actors who would either let it happen, or would outright assist.)
So if you're really concerned about Iran getting access to weapons technology that's over 80 years old (because that's how old nukes are at this point), you'd be best served telling Trump to get out of the Middle East and focus instead on expelling anti-American foreigners and reversing immigration.
Because in the long run, that will have a far healthier impact on American society (and the security of our nation) than yet another Middle Eastern boondoggle.
