Mitt Romney is back (sort of)

Since retiring in early 2025, Mitt Romney avoided national politics — until his old friend Susan Collins needed help.

Former Sen. Mitt Romney has made his first foray back into national politics since leaving the Senate, hosting a fundraiser on Wednesday for his former colleague Sen. Susan Collins.

It was the first time the former Utah senator directly reengaged with Washington politics since leaving office at the beginning of 2025. And it shows how seriously the 2012 Republican presidential nominee and sharp critic of President Donald Trump — who has prized privacy in his retirement — wishes to preserve a group of GOP senators in his mold in Washington.

The Salt Lake City fundraiser with Collins was co-hosted by Romney, his son Josh, former Romney chief of staff Matt Waldrip, and Zions Bank president Scott Anderson, according to an invitation obtained by POLITICO. Two individuals present at the fundraiser described it as a brief, cordial reception.

During remarks at the fundraiser, Romney — the former Massachusetts governor — said he knew how hard it is to be a New England Republican, and he praised Collins as a dying breed, according to one attendee granted anonymity to describe the private event.

Spokespeople for Collins and Romney did not respond to requests for comment.

Susan Collins is one of the last of the Mohicans (aka Assistant Democrats). Maybe one of Mitts’ sons has aspirations for elected office. Hasn’t his wife Ann been put through enough drama already? Ann is a cancer survivor.

Trump got her over the top last time around. Then she immediately proceeded to say “up yours” to the President. We’ll see if she’s so lucky this time around.

Romney’s going to help?

Sometimes, the only choices you got are the bad choice, and the even worse choice.

Collins is the bad choice.

In 2008, when I saw that disgusting John McCain purposely lay down on his back and surrender like a cur dog to his master, to that demonic Obama creature. I wasn’t sure what I was looking at.

When Mitt Romney did the exact same thing four years later, I knew exactly what I was looking at. He purposely rolled over and took a dive for the globalist NWO to rise up.

Obama was losing in the polls in September of 2012, at the end of October, Hurricane Sandy devastated the NY and NJ coast causing billions in damages. Obama toured the beach with Romneys RNC Key Note Speaker NJ Governor Chris Christie in tow and he was tagging along after Obama acting like he was his girlfriend and savior. With lots of fawning photo ops with Obama standing on the beach and for the first time looking like a decisive leader. Romneys Poll numbers tanked

I made the comment repeatedly to folks at the time, how I was reminded of this verse about the rising up of anti-Christs Beast system, the very beginnings of it:

“And the dragon stood on the sand of the seashore. Then I saw a beast coming up out of the sea, having ten horns and seven heads, and on his horns were ten diadems, and on his heads were blasphemous names.” - Revelation 13:1

Mitt threw his election.
Giving it away on a silver platter to YKW

I couldn’t believe my eyes but he did it.

if that’s the best help Collins can find, she’s in real trouble

Im pretty confidant Collins will win again, even if only narrowly. It gives no satisfaction to say that in this case but she is better than the “official” D on that ballot.

Collins is the best we can get out of Maine!
Whatever she is going, she still votes with the President most of the time.
Unlike any possible Democrat!

Mitt’s always been a turd that floats to the top of the bowel and can’t be fully flushed.

2012. I graded elementary school essays for a firm I dare not name. These kids responded to a prompt guarded by ferocious blood oaths. Very roughly paraphrased it went, “Who do you respect?”

During that season, I evaluated 4,442 essays. Somewhere around 25-35% of the kids liked Barack or Michelle Obama. No surprise there. The number of Romney supporters in that election year were easier to count.

One. (1). Out of 4,442. Not 1%. That level of respect would have generated 44 essays. Just one.

Then I knew that the fight was fixed, the game was rigged, and the winner already chosen before the first ballot was cast. Romney volunteered to take a dive, I suspect, and shuffled offstage to the jingle of his 30 pieces of silver.

I remember Jim going on the warpath against Romney. Romney represents everything wrong with Republicans until Donald Trump came along .
