ON A GOOD DAY

Our worth is tested every day. We are given the choice of being nice to people or uncharitable. We are given the choice of doing our work as well as we can or of goofing off. Some days it seems the tests are harder than on others, but every day brings with it some kind of test. Even the really good days!

To have everything go wonderfully for us, to feel like a million dollars, to have one of those days when nothing and nobody can upset us, they are days when we might think we don't need God. And so we pay Him little attention. MISTAKE! BIG MISTAKE! We must never forget our good days are God's gifts to give us a breather, a taste of heaven.

"Make no mistake about this," writes St. James, "Every genuine benefit comes from above, descending from the Father of the heavenly luminaries." Good days are made in heaven. Be sure to thank God for them.

We did, for too long. Got some extra stuff mowed around the shop out back. I keep hoping Cuz will show up to mow with the tractor but he hasn’t so far. The grass in the field areas is 3 ft.-plus tall. Champ chugged but by golly, the grass by the shop was knocked down. It’s ragged but it’s short, and critters can’t hide in it and spook me when I go out there. Two of the wild turkeys who live here spooked me today.

Slept off and on until I gave up, but I got a little extra sleep and some reading time.

Extra prayers for Israel...

He Who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - may He bless the fighters of the Israel Defense Force, who stand guard over our land and the cities of our G-d from the border of the Lebanon to the desert of Egypt, and from the Great Sea unto the approach of the Aravah, on the land, in the air, and on the sea.

May HASHEM cause the enemies who rise up against us to be struck down before them. May the Holy One, Blessed is He, preserve and rescue our fighting men from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness, and may He send blessing and success in their every endeavor.

May He lead our enemies under their sway and may He grant them salvation and crown them with victory. And may there be fulfilled for them the verse: For it is Hashem, your G-d, Who goes with you to battle your enemies for you to save you.

G-d bless and keep your children safe, Alouette.

Three males in the morning and at night...no clue where they went, but at least they now have another source. And a couple of geese...which I would love to chase away.

They had already paired up and were getting very grumpy.
