Sens. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) and Rand Paul (R-Ky.) broke ranks Thursday morning and voted against a budget resolution that could set the stage for ending the two-month shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security.
Murkowski, a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, opposed the budget resolution because it would lay the groundwork for passing a budget reconciliation package to fund Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol for 3 1/2 years — effectively taking those two key agencies out of the annual congressional appropriations process.
Murkowski supports funding those critical immigration enforcement agencies, but she didn’t like that they would be largely removed from the congressional process of appropriating funds on an annual basis and conducting oversight.
Paul voted against the budget resolution after raising concerns about spending another $70 billion on ICE and Border Patrol when those agencies are still sitting on more than $100 billion in unobligated funding enacted in last year’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act.
Paul offered an amendment to offset the cost of new funding for ICE by cutting $5 billion from refugee welfare programs, cutting $4 billion from the National Science Foundation and shrinking the Department of Education by 16 percent.
“Congress ought to fund border security, but we should be good stewards of the taxpayer dollars and fully pay for the $70 billion to secure our borders,” Paul said on the floor.

“Sens. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) and Rand Paul (R-Ky”
The only thing I notice is they’re not hop. They’re DS
The usual suspects.
Are you sure they are not Ds?
Murkowski always has piss-poor excuses. Remember folks, she was the one hold-out on the Senate Judiciary Committee to bring Brett Kavanaugh's nomination to a vote. As usual, she did the dirty work for the RATS, forcing the FBI to conduct yet another investigation into the sexual allegations brought against him. He'd already been investigated at least three times prior to his hearing. Her action delayed his confirmation for another week. She had already planned on voting "no" against him, but then ended up withdrawing her "no" vote to vote "present" so Republican Senator Steve Daines, also on the Judiciary Committee could attend his daughter's wedding in Montana. The state of Alaska has among the highest reported rape rates in the U.S., with 2025 data showing 148.7 rapes per 100,000 residents, more than triple the national average. It was that bad when she decided to obstruct Kavanaugh's confirmation vote. Jeff Flake was her colluder.
it’s funny you say this because both of those parties are dead right now and in local elections will record their lowest vote share in a century
They’re being replaced by Reform and the Greens (spit)

They both want pork deals for their constituencies.
Make them both an offer they cannot refuse.
Murkowski is the walking, talking reason to ban Rank Choice Voting systems. If Alaska had straight up voting, she would not be around.
If Rand Paul dropped the (R) BS and ran as what he is he couldn’t get elected dog catcher in a one horse town. The Rs should throw him out and start supporting candidates that support the party that gets them elected.
Foreign Leftist GOP hater and Jew Hater , TDS sufferer .
Posting from there favorite FARRRRRR Left Dem site The SHILL and Fav DEM Propaganda Expert Alex Bolton . A true GOP hater.
This foreign troll will search fand wide for any leftist n
GOP crap .
Thanks for that reminder. She only got re-elected because AK has rank choice voting.
You’re right choosing those three.
Rand Paul is less an effective Libertarian than aDemocrat wannabe.
Murkowski is a not so crypto Democrat.
Yeah different reasons - but the vote is the same and the result is the same...it adds up to, “Waaaaaaa! I don’t like it!” - And your other “hero”, Congressman Massie, voted against it in the House.
If you want, I can find some poster-quality pics of Thune for you to tack up on your bedroom wall.
That’s some deep research and what I consider a high grade response
I forgot about this she usually holds out for SOMETHING (pork)
At least with Rand you know he’s consistent and sincere ?
“She had already planned on voting “no” against him, but then ended up withdrawing her “no” vote to vote “present” so Republican Senator Steve Daines, also on the Judiciary Committee could attend his daughter’s wedding in Montana. “
I dislike Murkowski immensely, that said she did the correct thing so Steve could give his daughter away at her wedding.
The Governor of Montana, Greg Gianforte, had his G 650 standing by with a pilot if Steve needed to get back to the Senate to cast his vote.
