President Trump told The Post he “will not be rushed” to end the Iran war on its 52nd day — and lashed out at Democrats and Republicans trying to force him to end the conflict.
“How bad is it that when you are in the middle of negotiations and you have got the Iranians in a perfect position, including being militarily defeated, and you have Democrats and some Republicans asking to settle it now?” Trump said in a phone interview.
“As a negotiator — and I am a great negotiator — how bad is it when you have people from your own country trying to reach a deal?” he fumed.
“They are helping the other side. The other side has nothing, they have no cards, but they are using this to delay. When [Senate Minority Leader Chuck] Schumer was in, he was in Afghanistan for so long.”
“I have only been in this for five weeks. I will not be rushed,” he said.

Any ‘news’ story with Trump “lashes out” in the title belongs in the shitter. Just like this one
SEC. 3. The President in every possible instance shall consult with Congress
before introducing United States Armed Forces into hostilities
or into situations where imminent involvement in hostilities is clearly indicated by the circumstances,
and after every such introduction shall consult regularly with the Congress
until United States Armed Forces are no longer engaged in hostilities or have been removed from such situations.
REPORTING
SEC. 4. (a) In the absence of a declaration of war, in any case in which United States Armed Forces are introduced—
(1) into hostilities or into situations where imminent involvement in hostilities is clearly indicated by the circumstances;
(2) into the territory, airspace or waters of a foreign nation, while equipped for combat, except for deployments which relate
solely to supply, replacement, repair, or training of such forces; or
(3) in numbers which substantially enlarge United States Armed Forces equipped for combat already located in a foreign nation;
the President shall submit within 48 hours to the Speaker of the House of Representatives and to the President pro tempore of the Senate a report, in writing, setting forth—
(A) the circumstances necessitating the introduction of United States Armed Forces;
(B) the constitutional and legislative authority under which such introduction took place; and
(C) the estimated scope and duration of the hostilities or involvement.
(b) Within sixty calendar days after a report is submitted or is required to be submitted pursuant to section 4 ( a ) ( 1 ) , whichever is earlier, the President shall terminate any use of United States Armed Forces with respect to which such report was submitted (or required to be submitted), unless the Congress
(1) has declared war or has enacted a specific authorization for such use of United States Armed Forces,
(2) has extended by law such sixty-day period, or
(3) is physically unable to meet as a result of an armed attack upon the United States.
Such sixty-day period shall be extended for not more than an additional thirty days
if the President determines and certifies to the Congress in writing
that unavoidable military necessity respecting the safety of United States Armed Forces
requires the continued use of such armed forces in the course of bringing about a prompt removal of such forces.

The clock still ticks through the ceasefire.
You’ll have about seven days, Mr. President.
I suggest parking the B-2s in Israel on the 7th day.
Non-stop missions up until day 7, make it very clear.
I didn’t realize it was 52 days already. At 60 days you have to get permission from Congress or at 90. I think it’s 60 though.
That’s so silly. He doesn’t have 7 days. No one can tell the President of the United States where to station and where to position his troops. That is an unquestioned authority. If they are in the Middle East they are targets and they have every right to defend themselves in a way that he deems fit. The only thing Congress can do is stop funding the military. They are funded for the year. They can decide in September to longer fund the military but that’s not going to happen because (as they reminded everyone each time they funded Ukraine, that creates hundreds of thousands of Jobs). Sorry but Iran doesn’t have an easy out in 7 days. That Sir, is fake news.
Thanks for posting these, CFW.
It will take an incredibly tone-deaf Congress to tell a winning President, who has the enemy by their balls, to withdraw.
OTOH, an equally tone-deaf Senate GOP holds up the 80/20 SAVE America Act.
I put nothing beyond our anti-American Congress.
“As a negotiator — and I am a great negotiator “
Honestly, I have not seen an evidence of that claim. All I see is him giving ultimatums and lists of demands to countries, alongside a direct threat of attack if they do not fully agree to all of it.
That’s basically just mafia threatening to break your knees and bust up your store unless you pay the protection fee.
If he had negotiation skills, he would be able to find a way to get something done with a Repub house and senate. There has never been a president in recent decades with such a low rate of getting things through congress in the first year of a term. I keep waiting to see the negotiation skills in action.... just not seeing it.
“Agree with me or I will attack you”, is not “negotiating”.
Trump made a stupid decision with Israel and now we’re going to have to live with it.
He better get ready to get his November campaign boots and money ready, because to mitigate this, is going to take a lot of both.
We’ve won it 3 times already, what’s the rush?

If Congress was actually doing the job assigned to it by the Constitution, Trump wouldn’t have been able to launch a war without any consultations.
Outside of the US or our allies being directly attacked, the Constitution requires Congress to approve a war. There’s no exception for Trump or any other president.
