Soon after the deadly Israeli attack that caused thousands of Hezbollah pagers to explode in September 2024, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s government offered its assistance to Iran, the key sponsor of Hezbollah, considered a terrorist organization by the United States.

“Our secret service has already contacted your services and we will share all the information we have gathered during the investigation,” Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto told his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, by telephone, according to a copy of a Hungarian government transcript of the Sept. 30 call obtained and authenticated by a Western intelligence service and reviewed by The Washington Post. “Every possible document will be shared with your services.”

Orban is our enemy. Putin is our enemy. Khamenei is our enemey. No matter how many times RuZZian Boys on FR say otherwise.

Not going to believe the Washington Post. Orban has been good against illegals and they would do anything to destroy him.

Orban is our enemy

Yeah, he's so terrible for Hungary and Europe, keeping those wonderful Arabs and Africans out and all.

I'm guessing that when JD Vance (who supports Orban) runs in 2028 against a Democrat who unconditionally supports Ukraine (as Gavin Newson says he does), you single-issue Ukraine obsessives would vote against Vance and for the liberal.

Yeah, he's so terrible for Hungary...keeping those wonderful Arabs and Africans out and all.

Poland has kept muslims out without ruining democracy, which is what Orban has accomplished in Hungary.

But this is no longer an ordinary political system. Orbán’s real achievement over his sixteen years in power in Budapest has not simply been to win elections; it has been total state capture by his party. The separation of powers has been hollowed out, institutional neutrality has disappeared, and the machinery of the state is deployed to partisan ends.

That is why polling alone cannot tell the full story. A lead in public opinion matters less when the electoral battlefield is structurally tilted. State institutions, public money, regulatory authority, and government-affiliated media no longer function as neutral arbiters; they operate as instruments of Fidesz’s political survival. Despite leading the only credible challenge to Orbán in years, Péter Magyar has been denied even a token appearance on public television, while state media has worked relentlessly to amplify government messaging.

Trump and Vance both seem to love the commie.

"...according to a copy of a Hungarian government transcript of the Sept. 30 call obtained and authenticated by a Western intelligence service and reviewed by The Washington Post."

This is the "source" utilized the the Washington Post. No actual human beings went on-the-record for this story.

Agitprop.

I really don't care if other nations are "democratic" or not. Sometimes authoritarian regimes are the best way to maintain order in other societies and cultures. Hungary isn't the US or even the UK.

I agree that the story is probably made-up garbage, generated by the EU in order to eliminate the only nationalist leader of an EU nation that doesn’t kow-tow to Brussels.

Orban a "commie"? That's probably news not only to Trump and Vance, but to Orban himself. What exactly were his "communist" policies - did he nationalize private property and collectivize farms? Did he make Hungary officially atheist with Marx, Engels and Lenin as official national ideology? If so, I'd love to know of your sources on this.

Good points. The UK is perhaps more democratic, but definitely less free than Hungary, and a far more dangerous place to live.

The propaganda against Hungary is an attempt to have the European globalists in Brussels take them over.

Washington Post is our enemy as well. i discount every story the write and doubt its veracity. and i don’t care enough to fact check it. they obviously are pushing a story for their own agenda.

Did the Pager Attack in Lebanon just turn into a Ukie / Russ flame war item?

Loved the Pager Attack.

Have no use for Ukie Russ flame wars.

Exactly, this has the smell of leftist smear leading up to a tight election for Orban.

Sounds like the CBC (Canadian Broadcast Corporation), of OFCOM for that matter.
