Great news, there is no need for them to be govt employees.

It’s works this way at SFO. I was there 2 weeks ago, right at the harshest possible time. SFO has private security agents that were trained by TSA. At an airport that big and that busy, my wait through security was 10 minutes long TOPS.

Let’s go for a private version of TSA.

There are twenty odd airports in the USA that do have private security. Why can’t we privatize?

Now that is what I call good sense management-always better employees, better training, customer service and results with private sector operations...

Idea. To greatly alleviate the anger over delays at airports, have the male ticket holders get inspected by former Hooters waitresses and the women by laid off lifeguards and pool cleaner guys from Malibu mansions.

The TSA females now look like guards in women’s prisons. But with less personality.

Conside “The screening fee on airline tickets, known as the September 11 Security Fee, is currently $5.60 per one-way trip originating at a U.S. airport, with a maximum of $11.20 for round trips. This fee is collected by airlines at the time of ticket purchase and is used to help finance aviation security”

Does the airline pass those fees on to .gov? Why would those fees be subject to any Congressional manipulation?

Let’s go for a private version of TSA.

I bet it could be done much cheaper and more efficiently by private contractors. Or, it could become a boondoggle, hooking up friends of the powerful. The real key is not just making it private, but making it fully funded by airfare fees, not taxpayers. Private funding makes the former more likely, taxpayer funding leads to the latter.

Democrats will claim private security can't be trusted with our personal data, trying to keep control of the purse strings. They hate anything they can't control. Plus, TSA is union, so they must be protected.

We are talking about airport security-not waitresses/waiters in a cocktail lounge. A pleasant smile and good customer service manners don’t rely on sexy looks-and you can’t hire on that basis-it is real discrimination...

That was before 9/11.

I’ll bet you training has changed since then.

SFO was amazing. We got to the airport over 2 hours before our flight was scheduled to board. It took us 20 minutes total from drop off, to check our bags, get through security, and get to our gate. We were worried about nothing.

They were thorough at security. They very closely inspected bags going through the X-rays. I saw several people have to go through the machines twice. I saw several bags get flagged.

It was better than a lot of security/TSA that I’ve seen at other airports, so I’m not going to knock the idea.

It started out as a big gift to unions with a pretty Democrat bow on it. Privatizing this is pretty smart. Thank you, President Trump.

More likely, Democrats will intentionally send in people with guns, knives, bombs, box cutters, etc. to PROVE that only union stooges can do the work properly.

I believe the airport security industry expanded immensely after 9/11 and it became a real money maker for those in the President G W Bush administration. As I understand it, Michael Chertoff had started a company making walk through scanners and wands for airports prior to 9/11 and my guess is that he and his cohorts made millions from the government contracts. I agree with President Trump, US airport security needs to be privatized.

Yes! The TSA should’ve been privatized the very minute it was created.

Trump will likely lose this push because most government folks, especially those in Congress, are not interested in cutting budgets. Even if Trump is successful, you will find whatever TSA costs, the fed budget will not decrease at all.

In fact, this is why most do not want an unconditional surrender in Iran. Removing Iran from the international terrorism stage will reduce terrorism by 99%.

In that case, we can get rid of DHS and the Patriot Act in entirety right? After all, DHS and the Patriot Act were in direct response to 9/11.

So that’s how you know it won’t happen. It requires Trump seeing through the BS and getting cooperation.
