Gov. Josh Shapiro reacted swiftly to news that President Donald Trump had signed an executive order attempting to restrict voting rights, blasting it with a post on the governor’s social media pages:
“President Trump can sign whatever the hell he wants to, but it won’t change the Constitution.
The authority to set our election rules belongs to the states — and as Governor, I will protect your right to vote.
That includes your right to vote by mail."
Trump’s order would create a nationwide list of eligible voters and restrict mail-in voting, among other restrictions.
Under the order, the Department of Homeland Security, working with the Social Security Administration, would make a list of eligible voters in each state.
It also tries to bar the U.S. Postal Service from sending absentee ballots to those not on each state’s approved list, even though the president likely lacks the power to mandate what the Postal Service does.
Voting law experts say the order violates the Constitution because it would remove the authority of states to run elections.
Some Democratic state officials threatened lawsuits and accused Trump of trying to interfere with voting ahead of the midterm elections.
Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes noted his state’s vote-by-mail system was designed by Republicans, saying it is safe and used by 80% of voters.
“Donald Trump is attempting to pick his desired list of voters in each state with the Social Security Administration’s help,” Fontes said. “We will not let this stand.”
Trump has argued that voting rights need to be restricted based on false allegations of voter fraud.
It’s not the first time that Shapiro lambasted Trump’s moves to limit voting rights. Last summer Shapiro said the president can’t change how a state votes, shortly after Trump said he would “lead a movement” to end voting by mail.
At the time, in a social media post, Trump falsely claimed the U.S. is the only country to use mail-in ballots.
Trump has railed against mail-in ballots while he himself votes by mail, including most recently in a special election in Florida.
“The cheating on mail-in voting is legendary. It’s horrible what’s going on,” Trump said, repeating his false allegations about mail ballots as he signed the order. “I think this will help a lot with elections.”
A 2025 report by the Brookings Institution found that mail voting fraud occurred in only 0.000043% of total mail ballots cast, or about four cases per 10 million mail ballots.
Trump’s earlier executive orders, the first in March 2025, sought widespread changes in voting rules, including adding a proof-of-citizenship requirement to the federal voter registration form and requiring mailed ballots to be received at election offices by Election Day.
Those orders have been so far blocked by courts.

Guv Shapiro's statement was aimed at all of the deceased registered voters in the deep blue states and cities.
None of them were available for live comments.
No, President Trump signed an executive order attempting to end voter fraud.
I can vote just fine. That part doesn’t need additional protection.
What I need protection for is the integrity of the vote, that it won’t be canceled out by someone who didn’t/shouldn’t/can’t vote.
I will protect your right to vote illegally.
No bias in that headline... nope
Little shrimp thinks he’s a tough guy.
That headline exemplifies the phrase describing people of the same sex sitting naked in a circle.
In 2020 there were more votes cast than registered voters in PA. Philly is notorious for stuffing the ballot box. Shapiro prospers from low election integrity. He is overrated.
>>The authority to set our election rules belongs to the states
And “The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government” (Art 4, section 4). Fraudulent elections don’t represent the will of the voters.

“I will protect your right to vote as many times as you want.”
PennLive another liberal rag!
Scumbags want the status quo so their lib agenda can operate as it always has.
“The authority to set our election rules belongs to the states — and as Governor, I will protect your right to vote.”
Illegal aliens have a right to vote?
“The cheating on mail-in voting is legendary. It’s horrible what’s going on,” Trump said, repeating his false allegations about mail ballots as he signed the order. “I think this will help a lot with elections.”
False allegations? There really is no debate. Gaslighting doesnt work 5 years after the fact. Mass unsolicited mail in ballots are clearly an issue. Anyone who thinks millions of ballots floating around with little to no chain of custody arent being used to cheat are simply being disingenuous. Cue the slides of 99.9% Biden vote dumps on election night in the middle of the night with no observers that just managed to get Pedo Joe over the top in almost every swing state😂
As I recall PA changed it’s voting rules via the state executive branch versus the legislative branch where the power clearly resides. Their excuse was immediacy cause by the pandemic.
That was lame. Where was Shapiro then?
the enemies within
Ahh, our diminutive Bolshevik gov is such a drama queen…
