Iran’s IRGC has confirmed the killing of Jamshid Eshaghi, a major general in Iran’s armed forces and an adviser to the chief of the General Staff, Al Jazeera reports.
In a statement circulated by Iranian media, the IRGC said an attack killed Eshaghi with several members of his family, but it did not provide details.
Earlier today, Iranian state media announced that the funeral for the IRGC navy commander, Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, who was also killed in an Israeli attack, will take place on Monday.

Who is left?
...in front of an extremely sparse group of mourners.
The new IRGC (3rd one, I think) is Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi. He’s the last of the hardliners alive and in power. (Although rumors abound on X of his death).
IF we cap him, there’s not a lot of depth of the bench left.
“Who is left?”
They should be at his funeral.
Good. Hopefully our forces and the Israelis will be able to eliminate enough of the unrepentant ones to help Iran have a more population-oriented government.
Yes, very good.
Mohammad Pakpour — Commander-in-Chief of the IRGC
Alireza Tangsiri — Commander of the IRGC Navy
Gholamreza Soleimani — Head of the Basij paramilitary forces
Ali Mohammad Naini — IRGC Spokesperson / Deputy for Public Relations
Mehdi Qureishi and Esmail Dehghan (among others) — Senior commanders in the IRGC Aerospace Force
Hassan Hassanzadeh — Senior IRGC commander
Behnam Rezaei — Head of IRGC Navy Intelligence Directorate
Ali Hashemi — Deputy Commander, IRGC
Saheb al-Zaman — Head of Basij
Asadollah Badfar — New head of Basij forces
Whole slew of regional/provincial commanders, e.g., Ghadir Azarian (IRGC East Azerbaijan commander) and Naqi Mohaddesnia (Head of Clergy Affairs, IRGC East Azerbaijan).
Multiple senior IRGC Quds Force figures operating in Lebanon/region (e.g., Davood Alizadeh, Reza Khazaei, and finance/intelligence officers
Hossein Salami — Former Commander-in-Chief of the IRGC.
Amir Ali Hajizadeh — Former Commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force (key missile program figure).
The IRGC Aerospace Force and Basij are reported as leaderless following multiple strikes.
The IRGC Navy command is in flux after Tangsiri’s death.
So, to answer your question, which remotely senior guys are left, it’s:
Ahmad Vahidi — Current Commander-in-Chief of the IRGC
Esmail Qaani — Commander of the IRGC Quds Force
Mohammad Karami — Commander of the IRGC Ground Forces
Of these, I think on Vahidi has the gravitas to hold it all together.
The clerical side has been picked apart, leaving really 2 1/2 still alive:
Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei — new Supreme Leader — gay boy who may or may not be a vegitable
Ayatollah Alireza Arafi Senior Shi’ite cleric, member of the Guardian Council and Assembly of Experts. Appointed to the three-person interim leadership council
Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Eje’i — Chief Justice
Of these three, the gay boy probably needs to be whacked for political reasons, although he is not really a leader. I think the Chief Justice is the main target.
For clarity, I started with the people killed above.
Would you consider this a “war crime” Miami_rebel? Show us your “rules-based order” lawyer chops.
Reuters AOPM and the administration are simply talking with different groups of Iranians.
They should be bombing the funerals for these high profile leaders. In that part of the world people need support of their families/clans to be successful in so their support of these maniacs makes them culpable as well. It should be official United States policy that any large gatherings will be bombed. There should be no rallies or any gatherings allowed out under the sun.
For a long time, the IRGC was an ambitious Iranian man’s path to wealth.
Now it is not only the path to a quick death, but it puts the whole family’s lives at risk.
Time to take the money and run. IRGC is not going to be there for you when this is over. The IRGC must go, as they serve no role in a normal country.
Gosh. He seemed like such a nice guy, too. His family, I’m sure, had long enjoyed the fruits of his labors.
That’s what they want to do to us.
If they can dish it out, they can take it.
They should consider filling these job openings with Persians.
In love affairs and wars every thing is permissible without limits. How many Japanese were incinerated in Hiroshima and Nagasaki? It was war for crying out loud.
Agreed.
“the funeral for the IRGC navy commander, Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, who was also killed in an Israeli attack, will take place on Monday.”
...here’s an idea...
