US President Donald Trump says countries "like the United Kingdom" who can't get jet fuel because of the restrictions around the Strait of Hormuz should “build up some delayed courage, go to the Strait, and just TAKE IT".
In a post on Truth Social, he writes countries will “have to start learning how to fight for yourself, the U.S.A. won’t be there to help you anymore, just like you weren’t there for us," addressing countries "which refused to get involved in the decapitation of Iran".
"Iran has been, essentially, decimated. The hard part is done," the post adds, ending with: “Go get your own oil!”

Thanks to Deep State and a defense bill passed in 2024, the president can no longer do that, with regard to NATO, unless he has approval from Congress.
So I guess the WSJ article wasn’t fake news.
It’s far more likely that the Europeans reach a political deal with the Iranian government and pay whatever tolls are demanded to ensure safe passage.

We don't need the oil going through the Straights of Hormuz, we just don't want Iran to have ICBMs with nuclear warheads.

The European Union and little "Great" Britain have been pushing wind and solar energy generation while denigrating hydrocarbon energy, and have expected these United States from serving their policy goals in both energy, war and migration, and social "transformation" for a very long time.
