U.S. President Donald Trump told aides he’s willing to end the military campaign against Iran while leaving the Strait of Hormuz largely closed, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday evening.
Trump and his aides assessed that a mission to reopen Hormuz would push the conflict beyond his timeline of four to six weeks, the WSJ reported, citing administration officials. Trump decided that the U.S. would wind down current hostilities with Iran after achieving its main goals of hobbling Iran’s navy and missile stocks.
Washington will then pressure Tehran diplomatically to reopen the strait, failing which, it will press allies in Europe and the Gulf to take the lead on reopening the strait, the WSJ report said.
The strait of Hormuz has become a key point of focus for the U.S.-Israel war on Iran, with Tehran having effectively blocked the passage with mines and missile strikes. The channel supplies roughly 20% of the world’s oil consumption.
The strait’s closure sparked a sharp increase in global oil and gas prices over the past month.
Trump has repeatedly threatened Iran to reopen the passage, and has set an April 6 deadline for Tehran to either reopen the strait or face U.S. attacks on its key energy and water infrastructure.
Iran has largely rejected calls to open the passage, and has attacked several tankers passing through Hormuz in the past month.

U.S. President Donald Trump said Monday that the U.S. will “completely” obliterate Iran’s electric generating plants, oil wells and Kharg Island if the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz is not “immediately” reopened and a peace deal is not reached “shortly.”
These are the possibilities as I see it:

If this is what Trump is telling his aides and they are blabbing to the press... Some one needs to be fired.
Seems like it would be easy to trail different versions and see which ones are being leaked.

I know this would not be the big fireball finish that most of us would like to see. but I appreciate the President becoming thoughtful right now, and openly considering his choices before we reach the point of no return. and do get stuck into another strung out war. No one thought the Russia Ukraine war would last so long either.

Read it again. This might well be Trump telling the WSJ what he told his aides.
“These are three possibilities as I see it:
1. The threats and sending troops over were a bluff
2. Pres Trump suddenly changed his mind
3. The WSJ report is fake news.

That may be true but this story is BS.

If this is correct, and it may be a feint or a bluff, or an attempt to identify a leaker, it is not a terrible policy.
It forces the rest of the world to take out what is left of the Iranian threat in order to save themselves.
President Trump has asked for help. So far, a big shrug from Europe.
This is Trump saying: we are helping you. We did what we needed to do. You (Europe) will not help, so take your problem to yourself.
Hopefully he’s figured out it’s a globalist trap.
This statement, no doubt, is strategy aimed at getting nations depending on the strait involved.
I hope his plan also includes the destruction of the Revolutionary Guard.
And why would anyone trust the infiltrated WSJ. Especially when this makes absolutely no sense. Ask your self if this sounds like what Trump would think. Weigh it against other statements he has made during this time. Think about how much Trump always desires compensation from the offenders(Like taking some of their oil). How he wanted to US to provide insurance for the ships passing through. And that he knows that he has to bring the price of oil back down.
If Trump did say anything to his aids like these claims then I would say that he did it to intentionally deceive the enemy.
