U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth vowed on Tuesday that “today will be, yet again, our most intense day of strikes inside Iran” at the same time that Iranian forces unleashed a new barrage of attacks on Israel and its Gulf neighbors. With both Washington and Tehran ruling out cease-fire talks, experts expect the global energy crisis to worsen as the war trudges on.
Fears of Iranian attacks coupled with high insurance costs have largely halted oil and gas tankers from traversing the Strait of Hormuz, where around 20 percent of the world’s crude normally passes. On Tuesday, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said that Tehran “will not allow the export of even a single liter of oil from the region to the hostile side and its partners until further notice,” adding that “we are the ones who will determine the end of the war.”
In response, U.S. President Donald Trump warned that “If Iran does anything that stops the flow of Oil within the Strait of Hormuz, they will be hit by the United States of America TWENTY TIMES HARDER than they have been hit thus far.”
Such threats have left global markets scrambling. The cost of a barrel of Brent crude hit around $90 on Tuesday, nearly 24 percent higher than when U.S.-Israeli strikes first targeted Iran on Feb. 28. That, however, is down from Monday’s spike, which saw Brent prices reach almost $120. West Texas Intermediate crude also recorded falling prices from Monday into Tuesday, though costs still hit around $85 per barrel.
“The Strait of Hormuz will either be a path of peace and prosperity for all, or a path of failure and suffering for warmongers,” Ali Larijani, Iran’s top national security official, wrote on X on Tuesday.

All part of the 4D chess plan.
Larijani is with 72 virgins.
This looks like an old "March 10, 2026, 4:55 PM" article.
A total shutdown of the Strait of Hormuz?
$200 oil, or more. Global recession in quick order.
I don’t believe we will let that happen. Now, how to topple the islamic lunatics? I mean, really get rid of them. We might need to bomb and destroy Tehran, killing a million Iranians. Not acceptable. Or invade the country with hundreds of thousands of troops, maybe much more. We have only 1.3 million active duty military in all branches
How about drafting a few million young men?
Well, say goodbye to winning any elections for the next 20 years. In other words, kiss our free nation goodbye.
No good options. Just my opinion, no expert here.
Works for me. We, at least during First Term, were an oil exporting nation. We can do it again.
Jokes on them. Oil is why Islam has reemerged as a force in the World. Before all that oil money flowed into the Middle East Islam was sickly, a shadow of its former power . Now this Islamic regime that sought World domination is crippling the one thing that gave Islam new power in the first place. Ha!
“No good options.”
Control their oil.
Control their coastline near the Strait of Hormutz
The true believers have to die. The good news is that the people in Iran have become sick of Islamic control. If you take away the regimes weapons and make sure the rebellion is armed they will take care of the dead enders . How it actually works out is messy. Like what happened in Romania.
America is pretty much self sufficient in oil plus getting tons from Venezuela and a big exporter of LNG.
Natural gas exporters are going to make plenty of money in that scenario.
Trust Sessions
Take over Kharg Island and the US is the majority oil exporter of the world!
In March 2011, under Lord 0bama, crude was $106 bbl which would be $155 bbl today adjusted for inflation. It stayed over $100 bbl through June 2014. ($145 bbl adjusted)
Where was the panic then?
Inflation adjusted, oil reached $190 during Obama regime.
There was economic expansion all over the world.
The world is already consuming 2025's food production.
By fall the world will be consuming 2026's harvest.
Crop yields will be greatly diminished because fertilizer is made from the liquid natural gas that is not passing through the Strait. I won't even bother explaining how existentially catastrophic that will be for large portions of the human population, because you obviously don't care.
Iran’s doing an awful lot of threatening everybody in every direction.
It is. I wish articles were date stamped or people would quit posting old stuff as if it is new.
Anything you do regarding Iran has its risks, especially doing nothing.
USAF, USN and USMC say GFY Iran
That's not what the Pentagon said. They strenuously advised against it. The US Navy is staying thousands of miles away because Iran is a 600,000 square mile mountain fortress that the IRCG has stocked with tens of thousands of missiles in hundreds of mountain strongholds.
What do you know that the Pentagon and the Navy don't?
We take the oil.
