Homeland Security asks SCOTUS to let it end temporary protected status for Haitians

The Department of Homeland Security asked the Supreme Court Wednesday to let it end its Temporary Protected Status designation for Haitian migrants, after the high court let it end the designation for Venezuelans last year.

The request comes after the department asked the Supreme Court to let it end the designation for Syrian migrants last month, though the justices have not yet issued a ruling in the case.

Solicitor General D. John Sauer warned the high court in the latest filing that more cases are “waiting in the wings," and asked them to settle the matter on ending the protected status on their regular docket, according to The Hill.

“Unless the Court resolves the merits of these challenges — issues that have now been ventilated in courts nationwide — this unsustainable cycle will repeat again and again, spawning more competing rulings and competing views of what to make of this Court’s interim orders," he wrote. "This Court should break that cycle."

Thank you very much and God bless you.

Good. I'm glad they are doing this.

Next question, when is SCOTUS going to rein in these federal judges who think they can appoint themselves the head of our Executive branch of government.

Just wait until the “Non-Biologist” Supreme Court Judge hears about this. She’s be fit to be tied, and I don’t mean tied for a locked vote!
The age of Special Treatment is slowly being erased.

Congress is the place to go for that-if enough people flood their phones, email, and speak out-loudly and non-stop to conservative news outlets, they might actually get off their asses to be responsible...

“Homeland Security asks SCOTUS to let it end temporary protected status for Haitians”

I know other freepers are as annoyed as I am about the improper framing of the case. More accurate would be something like:

“Homeland Security asks SCOTUS to slap down lower court rulings that ending temporary protected status is illegal.”

Haitians can’t arrogantly strut around if they lose their special rights. And our millions of tax dollars.

Live and Let Die. Shows reverent respect for Haitian religion.

Bravely bold Sir Robin
Rode forth from Camelot.
He was not afraid to die,
Oh brave Sir Robin.
He was not at all afraid
To be killed in nasty ways.
Brave, brave, brave, brave Sir Robin.

He was not in the least bit scared
To be mashed into a pulp.
Or to have his eyes gouged out,
And his elbows broken.
To have his kneecaps split
And his body burned away,
And his limbs all hacked and mangled
Brave Sir Robin.

His head smashed in
And his heart cut out
And his liver removed
And his bowls unplugged
And his nostrils raped
And his bottom burnt off
And his pen--

"That's... that's enough music for now lads,
*** there's dirty work afoot*** ???."

Brave Sir Robin ran away.
("No!")
Bravely ran away away.
("I didn't!")
When danger reared it's ugly head,
He bravely turned his tail and fled.
("no!")
Yes, brave Sir Robin turned about
("I didn't!")
And gallantly he chickened out.

****Bravely**** taking ("I never did!") to his feet,
He beat a very brave retreat.
("all lies!")
Bravest of the braaaave, Sir Robin!
("I never!")

Thank you for the clarification. I was wondering why we have to ask SCOTUS permission for everything including wiping our asses.

The word “Temporary” needs to be defined and enforce across all usages of the term “Temporary”.

Why was temporary protected status granted to Haitian refugees?

Have the circumstances that justified it changed?

I think a fair argument could be made that they have not.

But as a matter of law, who is it that is responsible for making these determinations?

“I was wondering why we have to ask SCOTUS permission for everything including wiping our asses.”

There’s a common misunderstanding about our three branches that the Supreme Court is the first among equals, actually Congress is the most powerful branch.

I know we have our hands full. But now with Venezuela on the path, warring in Mexico and what is it Ecuador(?), and Cuba our declared next intention... we eventually have to get around to Haiti. I’m talking Monroe Doctrine. Haiti is in our hemisphere and it needs cleaning up. I’m not advocating military intervention the place is a hellhole of warring gangs and starving people. One of the gangs has to win or negotiate some kind of coalition and get the country in order. I think it would be cruel to send people back to Haiti at this time, though I also oppose giving them permanent asylum. The power to revoke their TPS is one thing DHS should have as a tool so I hope SCOTUS will grant it to them, but frankly I see no reason to use it right now except in extreme cases.

I understand what you are saying. Many say it is none of our business, but it becomes our business when the funds we send there end up in the pockets of government thugs, thousands of low IQ thugs are brought here, and so we end up with just one more group of people to provide endless support (with the democrats taking their cut of course).

Good explanation for Those not following TPS. Here in Springfield Ohio, we say Temporary means temporary.

Haiti wasn’t always the totally awful country that it is now.

I have a wonderful photo of my dad riding a donkey through the streets of Port-au-Prince when he and my mom stopped there on their honeymoon cruise through the Caribbean. He’s smiling and so are the Haitians who are watching him and my gorgeous mom who was taking the photo.

And I’m looking at a fab oil painting I bought by a well-known Haitian artist. It was on disiplay at the Haitian Art Gallery at the Caribe Hilton,at the time the best hotel in San Juan. Haitian owner of that gallery was extraordinarily polite and handsome.

And now we’re getting the dog excrement people.

Quite right!

One goal of the anti-MAGAs is to have a larger USSC that is the controlling alter ego of the Legislative Branch.

A few months ago we were in Miami visiting our daughter and on Sunday we decided to go to Mass in Little Haiti. When we arrived we were surprised that the ushers took us up and put us in a reserved section in the front of the church. We realized later that the community was celebrating their chief of police and his family on the occasion of his retirement and they were white. It was assumed that we were part of his family. So anyway, we have a good view. Everyone was dressed to the nines. The service lasted three hours and was in four languages, Latin, English, French, and creole. Lots of very loud music with a full drum set and electric guitars. It was exhausting. We probably could have stayed and had brunch. I sort of wish we had.
