Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) traveled to the Munich Security Conference with big ambitions and came home with a reputation problem. The trip was supposed to bolster her foreign policy credentials ahead of a future Senate or presidential run. Instead, it turned into a masterclass in unpreparedness, and now she's doing damage control in the worst way possible: a tearful late-night Instagram rant.
In the video, an emotional AOC, appearing to hold back tears, pushed back against critics who saw her faceplant in Munich, convinced she has no idea what she's talking about. Her defense? It’s not her, it’s you, who’s the problem. "If you think that I don't understand foreign policy because out of hours of discourse about international affairs, I paused to think about one of the most sensitive geopolitical issues that currently exist on Earth, I'm afraid the issue is not my understanding, but rather the problem is perhaps you've gotten adjusted to a president that never thinks before he speaks."
There it is. You can’t blame her for not knowing what she’s talking about; you’ve got to blame President Donald Trump.
Make no mistake about it, the Instagram video isn't going to rehabilitate her, because the Munich footage still exists. And it was bad, in every sense of the word. When a panelist asked AOC whether the U.S. should commit troops to defend Taiwan if China attacks — a question any serious foreign policy thinker should be able to handle — she froze. What followed was genuinely painful to watch: "Um… You know, I think that, uh… This is such a, uh, you know, I think that this is a, um… This is, of course, a very long-standing policy of the United States,...

Pulling beer taps and mixing cocktails is all she was ever qualified for. That anyone even mentions AOC and the U.S. presidency in the same sentence is mind-boggling.
She really exposed her ignorance, and her lack of pride in her Hispanic history, at the Munich Security Conference where Secretary Rubio spoke of the shared cultural heritage between the United States and Europe. “Our horses, our ranches, our rodeos—the entire romance of the cowboy archetype that became synonymous with the American West—these were born in Spain."
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez responded during a separate discussion; "My favorite part was when he said that American cowboys came from Spain... And I believe the Mexicans and descendants of African enslaved peoples would like to have a word on that."
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is too ignorant to recognize that her own ancestor, Spanish conquistador Hernán Cortés reintroduced horses, and the use of them for raising cattle, to America in the 1500s.
Her... own... ancestor...
...whose name she has carried her whole life.

Her bio says she has a degree in Economics. I’m thinking maybe it’s Home Economics....

I watched it. For those, who are already fully sold on her as Madame President, this will further endear her to her fanbase. I’m sure there are already articles being spun that will praise her for her naked honesty, and unapologetic she is about her passionately-held beliefs (blah blah blah).
Especially for her masterful use of the “Orange Man Baaaaaad” deflection. I actually agree with a certain minority opinion on here that conservatives underestimate her strictly at their own peril.

I have never understood certain references to her. She’s always seemed to me to be strangely sexually unaware or absent or clumsy or...something...
She seems as obtuse in that area as in the intellectual areas.

Not only that, but so much of what America perceives of as “cowboy culture” is straight from the Basques. Even this: You know that blood-curdling “AYAYAYAYAYE!!!” from the Indian attacks in the old Westerns? They got that from the Basques, a very unique ethnic group with a VERY isolated language from Northern Spain and Southwestern France. Other Basque innovations include the roundup, branding, and the rodeo.
