France is witnessing an extraordinary religious resurgence, as record numbers of young people flock to churches for Ash Wednesday and baptism, Le Figaro highlights in a recent article.
Once considered a global bastion of secularism, the country is seeing a 17% rise in adult baptisms in Paris alone, with figures jumping over 50% in just two years. According to analysts, this spiritual awakening is largely driven by a generation searching for direction and meaning in a world dominated by “materialistic indigestion” and geopolitical instability.
Some say the phenomenon can also be the result of the rise of Catholic influencers. Figures like Father Paul Adrien and Sister Albertine, with their hundreds of thousands of followers on YouTube and TikTok, act as “digital pre-evangelizers.” They offer “morning motivation” and biblical meditations that resonate with a youth population that feels exhausted by the beauty ideals and athletic body standards of the modern era. Instead, Lent offers them a “spiritualized body” focused on fasting, prayer, and inner peace.
Church leaders, including Bishop Étienne Guillet, observe that this is more than a fleeting emotional fervor; it represents a profound shift where traditional atheist secularism is increasingly viewed as outdated. While their parents turned away from faith, many young adults are returning to it. In addition, observers note, young converts are more willing to manifest their practice in the public sphere, bringing a “de-bourgeoisification” to French Catholicism.

What do you make of this, pc?
They better read the bible because the left is creating a mirror version of Christianity flipping everything over such as abortion, Sodom and Gomorrah marriage and ministers and priests, Jesus as a version of Lenin and AOC and Bernie Sanders.
The left is creating a new interpretation of scripture and taking over church leaderships, a parasitic parallel religion devouring Christian nations, governments, and churches from within.
The historian Toynbee called Marxism another in a 2000 year long-line of Christian heresies.
It feigns Christian morality and teleology, all without Jesus Christ.
Exactly how Satan operates.
Hmmmm...reminds me of an old priest I knew from Eastern Europe several decades ago...he mentioned in passing that once the good times disappear, and the terror begins (in this current case the muslims vs. the nazis and marxists of his time), then there are those that join them to survive (and get eaten later) or begin to develop a spine and stand up for their faith, easily forgotten until...its needed. Little did they realize that it is always needed given its enemies are everywhere and at work 24/7. Idle hands, the devils workshop, satan never sleeps, etc. Tough old guy. Reminded me of Pope John Paul II. RIP Fr. Al.
Pilgrims hungering for the Word and priests hungering to explain it away.
I don’t have any special insight other than what the article states for France but I’ve seen similar articles in recent years for other parts of western Europe.
The Church hierarchy in France appears to detest the growing attraction of the yearly Chartres pilgrimage, particularly among young adults. How can you argue with success, though? Unless you have an inverted sense of the faith.
We watched Buttigieg and we will see more and more democrat candidates preaching their version of the bible during campaigns and legislative arguments, and attempting to challenge and correct actual Christians as inauthentic and misguided while doing so.
Good for the Catholic church and good for France.
I hope this trend continues for them.
Looking at it functionally, not in terms of saving souls: The Christian value system is a cultural asset which makes society better. It increases productivity and discourages corruption, it discourages crime, is socially sustainable (children), gives you less disease (HIV, syphilis, gonorrhea, HPV, herpes), more charity, a more effective family unit (child rearing, old folks, etc.)...
Marx is rolling in his grave.
shocking. A populace so scorned by its government, being terrorized and literally raped by Muslims, turning to Jesus the voice of Truth and the Healer..
Make France Christian Again.
and America.
God is calling his people to him, ones that in decades past, would have been his before the age of 15. These are now usually late 20’s to late 30’s from what I am seeing.
In times of crisis and uncertainty, people often turn to religion. For France, the faith of tradition and history is serious, genuine Roman Catholicism. Indeed, France led the monastic movement in the West and raised up both magnificent cathedrals and great saints.
Maybe with all those moose limbs running amoo and attempting to Lord over the population, folks are realizing their spirituality and religion top those of other nations .
We are seeing something very similar on this side of the pond but on the eastern bank of the Bosporus.
Young adults—especially young men—have awakened to the vapidity of the typical “evangelical” gathering which is essentially a rock concert followed by a lecture, and developed a craving the order, tradition, and unchanging theology of Orthodox Christianity.
Hardly a week goes by when I am not engaging by phone, by text, or in person with one or more inquirers, many of whom become Catechumens and, ultimately, converts.
This global great awakening is a wondrous work of God!
Keep on doing God's work, lightman!
The beauty of an Orthodox worship is where we worship the Lord totally - mind (with the readings and sermons), body (standing, kneeling, in adoration), and soul (Eucharist and prayer)
