New Mexico Assault Weapon Ban One Step Closer to Reality

New Mexico is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been in my life. For years, I hoped to retire to either there or Arizona and just soak up the beauty. I didn't even realize how much I'd love the area until I visited.

But now, I wouldn't live there for all the money in the world.

After all, who would want to live in a state that elected a governor who thought she could just suspend the Second Amendment in a city, basically?

That was smacked down, thankfully, but that doesn't mean lawmakers there aren't still engaging in stupid, such as their ill-conceived semi-auto ban. That just passed committee late Wednesday night, by the way.

Gotta agree with Tom. I love NM but ain't no way I could live there. It was a lot of fun in the mid 60's. Now? Not so much.

I really want to escape the People’s Republic of Colorado for either Arizona or New Mexico, but now have eliminated NM for consideration. And, given AZ’s election corruption which may soon deteriorate into making AZ another sewer of leftism, I’m thinking that I’ll have to escape to the South despite the heat/humidity/bugs. I’ll give it a bit more time to see where we’ll take up living.

Like the author, I once desired to live in NM but I have decided that just occasional tourist visits will suffice. I do wish that Bearing Arms would avoid using the anti-gun terminology “assault weapons” in their headline. They should know better.

And in a few years, it will be struck down by SCOTUS. Same with the crap Virginia is brewing. Leftists don’t care about the law.

“such as their ill-conceived semi-auto ban”. No problem, just go full-auto, belt fed.

I just read that a NM judge disqualified the GOP candidate for Senate, for Governor, and for a Congress seat. So the democrats will run the state unopposed, it seems.

It’s beautiful in NM.

But my daughter lived in Taos for a year. I was never so happy to have her leave a place in my life. When I went out to visit her she told me not to lock the doors on my car. The druggies would just open the door and look to see what they could steal. If you locked the door…they would break your window and look to see what they could steal.

And that was one of the better stories.

No thanks.

Maybe enough conservatives can move to AZ, and help wipe out the election corruption.

NM is a poor state...most of the land is fed gov’t or tribal. And the Fed Gov’t is the largest employment..especially since the Atomic Age. Very little farming land..just along the Rio Grande-everywhere else is too rocky, too high up, or too hot to farm.

I remember living in NM in 1946 to 1977. Left to take a higher paying job, hoped to return for retirement.
If I returned with the same rifles I had in 1973 I would be considered a criminal in my own home.
They want to ban the best coyote and feral hog rifle on the market.
From 1934 till 1984 the democrats always said their gun laws were ONLY to get the handguns.”Rifles will not be affected!”
Then in 1984 they made a grab for the rifles. That fight is still going today. If they can ban rifles they will be back for the handguns, their original target.
NEVER TRUST A DEMOCRAT OR COMMUNIST.

I remember the most popular bumper sticker back in 1975 when I lived in both Colorado and North New Mexico.

“DON’T CALIFORNICATE COLORADO!”

Well, it has been, and now they are moving in on New Mexico.

“Libs from CA and the east coast really ruined CO”

I watched them move in and ruin the whole damned place. I don’t know what’s wrong in their heads, I guess they had it too easy for too long. It’s the white women that do it.
