Gallup will no longer track presidential approval ratings after more than eight decades doing so, the public opinion polling agency confirmed to The Hill on Wednesday.
The company said starting this year it would stop publishing approval and favorability ratings of individual political figures, saying in a statement it “reflects an evolution in how Gallup focuses its public research and thought leadership.”
“Our commitment is to long-term, methodologically sound research on issues and conditions that shape people’s lives,” a spokesperson for the agency said. “That work will continue through the Gallup Poll Social Series, the Gallup Quarterly Business Review, the World Poll, and our portfolio of U.S. and global research.”

The buggy whip, then General Motors, now Gallup.
LOL. “No one believes our propaganda any longer, and others are clearly way ahead of us in non-biased, apolitical polling methods in 2026”
They can’t stand it.
They hate the winning.
They couldn’t stand reporting good numbers for Trump, eh?
They did a poll and found that 51% of Americans wanted pollsters to be executed by firing squad...and decided it might be time to lower their profile.
Lol.
Trump‘s ratings must’ve skyrocketed or something
Gallup: “No matter how we cook the numbers, we can’t credibly make Trump unpopular so we give up.”
And, they couldn’t figure out how to manipulate them and retain any shred of credibility.
Why do I care what a Presidents approval rating is 88 years after they were in office?
I still don’t like FDR
Maybe because no one answers the phone if they see if it is a polling firm on the line.
And fewer people have landlines..just mobile phones.
My guess is that they’ve discovered the polling process that they’ve used for 88 years is no longer valid. No one answers their phone. Hardly anyone has a landline. And self selecting surveys are wildly inaccurate.
Polling companies are dying on the vine.

Dittos.
TDS
After 88 years one gets too old to Gallup, even trotting becomes difficult.
saying in a statement it “reflects an evolution in how Gallup focuses its public research and thought leadership.” I don’t even want to know what that is coming from Gallup.
Sour grapes
My guess is they realize that the “polling” game, started all those decades ago to steer the electorate, is over.
