It looks like the embattled airline Boeing may be looking for a fresh start in South Carolina. Boeing told employees last week that it plans to consolidate 787 engineering work in South Carolina as it ramps up production of its popular twin-aisle jet, the union representing its engineers said on Wednesday.
“Boeing regularly evaluates and adjusts its workforce to stay aligned to our commitments to our customers and communities,” a Boeing spokesperson said in an email.
A Boeing spokesperson told Reuters on Wednesday that in addition to adding engineers in South Carolina, the company plans to hire engineers in Washington, to support production rate increases of its popular single-aisle 737 jet.

According to the union representing Boeing engineers, the move could involve approximately 300 engineering jobs being shifted from Washington state, where Boeing has historically maintained a large workforce for the 787 program.

They should get rid of most of the higher level DEI management, and put real engineers in their place.
This is not a red state / blue state issue. I know everyone wants to make it that but they are wrong.
Boeing is moving 787 engineering from Washington to South Carolina because the production lines for that plane model is already in SC and has been for years. They do not make 787’s in Washington.
The 737 production line which is in Renton Washington is ramping up and they are hiring more personnel for that effort also. The Washington state production line cranks out about twice as many aircraft as the South Carolina production line in North Charleston.

There, I fixed it.
I won’t say which aircraft company I contracted for.... But they kept an entire made up R&D division to employ all the DEI hires. It was like a kindergarten for poorly qualified engineers of color and their black HR directors. Corporate knows the game they have to play for,government contracts so they play it. And ALL the company pamphlets and media shows what a wonderfully diverse company it is with the smartly dressed young black woman standing at the front of the board room white board pointing at some chart while all the diverse people at the table, and one older white man, look on in awe.
In what way and how could you tell they were poorly qualified?

The results of AWB’s winter survey are based on 429 responses collected by email from business owners and operators across the state between Jan. 12 and Feb. 2.
“Washington employers signaled a continuing collapse in confidence in the state economy in this quarterly survey, with significant year-over-year deterioration across multiple metrics driven largely by the state’s growing tax burden,” according to the survey’s executive summary.”
