The No. 1 job of a mayor, above everything else, is to keep his or her city functioning.
Yet with people dying on the cold streets of New York and trash building up in parts of the city, New York is by no means functioning. Not even close.
The snow and frigid temps have tested Gotham’s socialist Mayor Zohran Mamdani and, alas, he has not risen to the occasion. Rather, he’s left the city a mess.
Everest-size mountains of garbage have popped up. Unremoved snow, ice and road salt have damaged Con Edison electrical equipment, contributing to power outages.
Most horrifically, 16 people have died on the street — 13 from hypothermia.
Chalk that up to a perverse ideology on the homeless or simple mismanagement, but either way, it represents tragic, unforgivable failure.

This is what happen when people with zero experience are elected. But most of the media will turn a blind eye toward his failures.

Proving a “functioning city” is just the marketing they use to justify the taxation and all the useful idiots fall for it time and time again.

It will get much worse. The investment of private capital produces the wealth that makes NYC work. What private investors in their right mind will now commit private capital to build housing or commercial ventures in this quasi socialist, high tax, regulation happy hostile place? When investment evaporates , poverty and political unrest increases.

From what I hear, it’s not just the rats and garbage on the streets of NYC, supposedly Mamdani closed a lot of the homeless shelters in NYC and put them on the streets right before a blizzard which resulted in quite a few dead homeless people who froze to death.
What a great city, the financial capital of the world, littered with rats, garbage and frozen corpses.

Correct. The people he works for are fine with this.
He was elected by constituencies that don’t see New York City functioning as his core job. Plundering New York City is their core issue. Giving free reign to their hatreds comes second, especially if it’s anti-Jewish hatred.
