When actual Native Americans call out the state’s silly mascot bans, you know progressives have lost their way.
The Native American Guardian Association last week called barring indigenous school mascots “the dumbest law of all time” and vowed to take its case against the state Board of Regents all the way to the US Supreme Court.
NAGA believes identities like “the Massapequa Chiefs” promote respect for Native American culture and values: You don’t name your team for something you hold in contempt.

Just waiting for a team to be called “The Fighting Plankton”.
This Team name etc was an attempt to keep the history of Natives alive.
How about a team called “the battling algae”?! Would that be considered acceptable?!

We had 2 colleges named for Indians, Central Michigan University and Eastern Michigan University, the Chippewas and Hurons respectively. EMU changed to the Eagles, CMU remains the Chippewas in partnership with the Tribe.
Who was that team a few years ago that named themselves “The Fighting Whiteys”????

The Fighting Whites (alternatively identified as Fightin’ Whites, Fighting Whities, or Fightin’ Whities) were an intramural basketball team formed at the University of Northern Colorado in 2002 and named in response to the Native American mascot controversy.[1]
What they are doing is making Native Americans invisible. Wouldn’t you rather see a team named after your ethnic group?
For what insane reason did they get rid of Aunt Jemima even after she was given a modernized image?
These kooks think it’s better for minorities not to see themselves represented in popular culture, sports, advertisements. Absolutely idiotic.

In 1970, St Bonaventure University had Bob Lanier and Matt Gant. They went to the quarter finals. Back then, they were not just called the Indians, they were called the Brown Indians. Now they’re just called the Bonnies.

Remember them well. I believe they were ranked number one or two in the nation for a spell and would have probably won the national championship if Chris Ford of Villanova didn’t take out lanier’s knee. Without Lanier I believe they lost to an Artis Gilmore led team
