Population control Bill Gates will be sad about the Chinese
I am posting this video just so we can spend some of our snowed-in time to learn about the anti-ICE conspiracy.
The salient part of the video is 25 minutes, and is very good.
I have family in Minneapolis (they think I am a right wing kook), and I am sure that they may be involved.
I have read up to 25 years ago in books about doing business in China, from a number of Americans writing, that they did not think that the population numbers in China were anywhere near what the government stated.
They wrote about crowded and empty parts of the country.
They wrote about the issue Chinese have about saving face and the need to always be the biggest, best, winner, most... or be unworthy.
The writes stated that they thought that this was an issue for the Chinese.
No one talks anymore about the all the cell phones that died in china during covid. and the crematoriums smoking. No death figures and no one in China talks about it.

Well, those COVID suspicions seem to support the conclusion that the initial virus strain was quite virulent and dangerous, but that it didn’t take long for the vaccine to be the bigger danger.

When learning geometric series in my high school years, I remember to find the China’s population number doesn’t add up. It’s even truer now. Their one-child policy was in 1980 when pop=1 billion. Because of it, pop should be now less than 1 billion, yet it’s 1.4 billion, supposedly. It’s a mathematical impossibility.
They said in the countryside, people don’t follow the one-child policy. That might be true, but then, children are not registered and consequently, the official number should be unknown instead of 1.4xx billion.
“Decimated” technically means “reduced to a tenth”, not “to a fifth”.
It’s liberally used as a cheap trick to manipulate emotions so anyone who use it should be discarded, rightly so with hindsight, as a propagandist.
Does anyone else get the feeling that these Sammy Riots on TV are AI productions. Fakes? phonies? “Decimated” refers to the Roman Military disciplinary practice, where every tenth person was executed, in unit’s that disgraced themselves in battle.

You’re right that people today use the word _decimated_ to mean near-total annihilation of a large number of things. _To_ a tenth of its original number. From 100% to 10%, for example.
The original, historical definition of decimation referred to a form of Roman punishment, where a mutinous unit if legionnaire was reduced _by_ a tenth of its original number (through lots, then execution): from 100% to 90%.

Actually, there are two factors that are primarily responsible for the almost certain and significant decline in China’s population. First, as you mentioned, is the one-child policy. But I believe that you are incorrect concerning how accurately China counts its population and who is registered. The various provinces of China, and the administrative districts within each province, are allocated resources based upon the number of people living in their area of jurisdiction. This starts, not unlike in this country, with the number of children who go to school. If you don’t think that Chinese officials lied to their superiors, and those superiors in turn lied to their own superiors, about the number of children registering for school )so as to obtain more money from the central government, much of which lined their pockets), then you are naïve. Note that I don’t think you are, that is merely an expression. I have seen and heard estimates that the Chinese government on a national level has overestimated the number of people born since the one-child policy by approximately 100 million. This is 100 million people who are now of prime age to have children. So they didn’t merely overcount the population by 100 million, they are also making assumptions (for the sake of both continuing the grift and saving face) about the number of children that those 100 million nonexistent people have been having since the early 2000s. Thus, the one child policy has been almost a complete disaster for China.
The second thing that has resulted in a decline in Chinese population numbers is the incredibly rapid industrialization of that country. The simple fact is that China industrialized faster than any nation in history, largely thanks to the shortsighted policies of American administrations who were doing the bidding of corporations anxious to reduce their costs. What happens when a nation is industrializing? In every single case, no exceptions, young people leave rural farming regions and move to the cities where the production takes place, because that’s where there are higher paying jobs (yes, even in a communist country) and that’s where life is going to be a lot more exciting for them than the drudgery that untold generations of their ancestors endured on manual labor farms. In over 99% of cases, rural people who depend on lots of strong young backs to do manual labor will have many more children than factory workers living in expensive apartments in crowded cities. Children are not looked upon as assets, they are effectively looked upon as expensive and noisy pieces of furniture that many people in cities can (or must) do without.
I certainly do not know how many people live in China, I don’t think that anybody knows because of the utter corruption throughout the Chinese political system. But it is a virtual certainty that China has almost completely destroyed its future because of the shortsightedness of its leadership class since 1980. Either the one trial policy, or the rapid industrialization policy, would have been devastating for the future of China from a demographic POV, but the combination of the two has undoubtedly resulted in a decline in population that has not been seen ever before in history. And, of course, we also don’t know, and probably never will know, how many people in China died because of Covid and associated other epidemics over the years. The Chinese government may not be very good at long-term demographics, but they are very good at saving face by either ignoring a problem or lying about it.
Oh, by the way, this decline in population doesn’t merely have consequences many years down the line, it has already had some fairly severe consequences for China. The biggest among those is that there are labor shortages. This drives up the cost of labor (again, even in a communist country). China is no longer even close to being the lowest cost producer. Countries such as Vietnam and Malaysia, as well as a host of countries in central and South America, can produce goods more cheaply than China, and this is having a significant effect upon the Chinese economy. If anyone has been paying attention, there have been reports for years of entire cities that are virtually empty, as well as the fact that the entire Chinese real estate industry is tremendously over leverage and is close to collapse. This is all because of the lack of enough labor to keep labor costs low. They have hollowed out their own economy. That’s without even touching the corruption that is endemic to their system. I have been watching the YouTube channel of Peter Zeihan, who is a geopolitical strategist, but got his start deal, dealing with demographics and logistics, for several years. He is of the opinion that sometime in the next decade or so the Chinese communist party will no longer be in power, that they have done such a terrible job of managing China that they have effectively destroyed China’s future. By the way, I don’t only have a sneaking suspicion that he is correct about this, but I also agree with him that China will turn increasingly to robotic production in a desperate attempt to lower its labor costs and make its economy more competitive. But it’s too little, too late.
As a sidebar, those Chinese who have emmigrated from China over the past several generations have become, as a group, incredibly successful. This shows that China should be the most successful nation, but it cannot be because of its leadership, and the completely nonsensical theories underlying its political and economic philosophies (plus their corruption). Communism destroys nations and the people within them, and it is no different in China than it has been in a host of other countries. For anybody who can connect the dots, this is a very stark warning for the West. Europe clearly has not heeded that warning and is continuing to rush headlong into completely socialistic policies. We have some hope in this country, but it will require that the American people have the wisdom to keep the Democrats out of the White House for at least another eight years after Trump, and to keep them out of control of either the House or the Senate. The Democrats, at this point in time, might as well be Communists, and them holding any of the levers of power will be immensely destructive to this nation. One only need look at how the population of California has declined for the first time since 1850 as a result of the Democrats’ one party rule of that state for the last couple of decades, as well as what’s going on in New York, Illinois and Minnesota. These states are hell holes compared to Texas in Florida, for example, in which we have a great deal more free market capitalism.

While your knowledge of the etymology of the word "decimated" is admirable, the meaning began to broaden in the mid-17th century. The primary meaning today is to "kill, destroy, or remove a large percentage or part of".
Yes, that was the original meaning.
