Trump says he no longer needs to ‘think purely of Peace’ following Nobel loss, amid Greenland push
The New York Post ^ | 01/19/2026 | Samuel Chamberland

President Trump has warned America’s European allies “I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace” after he missed out on last year’s Nobel Prize amid a new round of threats to annex Greenland.

Trump’s message, initially sent to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, was forwarded to multiple European ambassadors in DC, according to PBS.

“Dear Jonas,” the message reads. “Considering your Country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace, although it will always be predominant, but can now think about what is good and proper for the United States of America.”

“Denmark cannot protect that land from Russia or China, and why do they have a ‘right of ownership’ anyway? There are no written documents, it’s only that a boat landed there hundreds of years ago, but we had boats landing there, also,” Trump goes on.

“I have done more for NATO than any other person since its founding, and now, NATO should do something for the United States. The World is not secure unless we have Complete and Total Control of Greenland. Thank you! President DJT.”

Trump should get one of his billionaire cronies to create: “The Propaganda Free Nobel Peace Prize.”

Fund it with a billion dollars and make the prize 10 x the other one.

I think with Nobel dead for more than 75 years his name is probably fair game.

I’d laugh if Trump turned it down. After all, Obama was nominated after 11 days in office and received it along with the million dollars about 8 months later. Obama’s idea of Peace is a beer with a “son” in the Whitehouse Garden.

World class trolling of NATO Socialists by President Trump.

The deal for Greenland will be made in Davos at the WEF.And quickly.

Greenland is only one referendum away from independence. The natives will vote for prosperity and independence from the Dane Law. The women will vote for prosperity.

We now will have a new protectorate, US Greenland. Huge Sub base being built with huge strategic bomber airfield in NuuK Trumpistan !

The Nobel Peace Prize is a private entity. They are not run by the state/country.

Also, to the best of my knowledge, Trump was not eligible for the prize last year for stopping 8 wars or whatever. Most of his accomplishments occurred after the deadline. He would be eligible this year for those accomplishments. So I think his continued rant on the subject is shooting himself in the foot for his chances of being awarded the 2026 prize.

Correct, and agreed. I voted for Trump, and think he’s been —and will continue to be— an incredible President. This kind of rhetoric, though, is the kind of stuff that alienates alot of people.

well actually there are documents that could be examined....

1.
In 1916, the United States bought the Danish West Indies - now the U.S. Virgin Islands - for $25 million in gold. As part of that treaty, Washington declared it would not object to the Danish government extending its “political and economic interests to the whole of Greenland”, formally recognising Danish sovereignty.

2.
During the Second World War, the Danish ambassador to Washington signed a treaty allowing the US to protect Greenland - in exchange for a re-confirmation of Danish sovereignty.

3. The arrangement was confirmed in 1951 in the US/Danish treaty on the defense of Greenland.

(PS: I’m for USA acquisition of Greenland as a territory for better defense etc. And the Danish can’t defend it anyway. I Just saying that, if anyone in WashDC wanted, they might wish to at least take a look into the above 3 items. Of course, we still had the Monroe Doctrine of 1823 but it was a unilateral declaration and of course earier than any of the above bilateral dealings with Denmark, so???? History is fascinating, I stand at ready to learn more here from our expert FRers
thanks

The mobs are out there for and against Trump. Not enthused about either side of the street.

The POTUS is in bed with Lindsey Graham, Benjamin Netanyahu and ultimately money from places like Qatar.

Saving my soul gotta be more important than this political quagmire.

Obama killed more people with drones than any other POTUS.
In Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan. Probably other places too.
The media(CIA) never said anything because he was their guy.

Neodymium is fairly common—about as common as cobalt, nickel, or copper—and is widely distributed in the Earth’s crust. Most of the world’s commercial neodymium is mined in China, as is the case with many other rare-earth metals.

Neodymium is rarely found in nature as a free element, instead occurring in ores such as monazite and bastnäsite (which are mineral groups rather than single minerals) that contain small amounts of all rare-earth elements. Neodymium is rarely dominant in these minerals, with exceptions such as monazite-(Nd) and kozoite-(Nd). The main mining areas are in China, United States, Brazil, India, Sri Lanka, and Australia.

I’m a complete supporter of President Trump and I’m offended NATO and the Euros didn’t cooperate with him on this Greenland thing.

This behavior is going to get him impeached. That we know already if democrats win the midterms.

But this is going to get him removed from office.

This letter is so ridiculous and irresponsible on so many levels that it’s hard to believe.

I know what he’s doing. He’s pissed and he’s raising the stakes.

The Nobel Prize is meaningless and going on about it is absurd.

The statements about “no longer needing” to think only of peace and now focusing on what’s good for America is frightening as much as it’s idiotic.

He never had to always think about peace, and he always had to think of what was best for America.

He will alienate Congress quickly and he will get removed if he continues down this road.

If he’s implying, which he is, that he will take on Europe militarily because they didn’t give him Greenland, he’s going to be out of office before 2029.

And you may see Rubio resign as the next thing that’s going to happen, except he may be staying to discuss Trump’s removal when necessary.

That’s how serious this one is and somebody better tell Trump that in a hurry.

He’s also doing this in response because the stupid Nobel committee issued a statement saying that woman can’t transfer her prize to Trump.

But does that excuse the behavior? And writing to the Norway based N Prize group about Greenland? No.

Agreed. This kind of thing is just grotesque. At the rate he’s going, he’ll be talking about nuking the Vatican if the Pope declines to repaint the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel with Trump murals.

But this is going to get him removed from office.

he's not going to get removed.

Senators like Ted Cruz and Rick Scott are not going to vote to remove him although yes, Tillis and Murkowski will vote in favor. It'll take 67 votes. The votes are just not there.

In your hypothetical scenario that Trump ends up getting removed, we have JD Vance.

well if this is the way trump is going to be then he ought to put more tarriffs on the europeans until they reverse their immigration policies and the germans bring back nuclear and the norwegians invest their sovereign wealth fund into ai.
