Ghazala Hashmi sworn in as Virginia lieutenant governor using the Quran

Democrat state Sen. Ghazala Hashmi became the new lieutenant governor of Virginia on Saturday, taking the oath of office as she placed her left hand on the Quran.

In video footage posted on social media, Hashmi was seen being instructed to place her left hand on the Quran and to raise her right hand.

Hashmi defeated radio host John Reid in Virginia’s election in November 2025.

As Breitbart News’s Hannah Knudsen reported, during the campaign Reid “identified himself as someone who has ‘very strong principles,'” while Hashmi “appealed to her status as a diverse candidate.”:

I live in Virginia. My district (5) - rural south-central and extremely conservative - runs through ultra-liberal populated Charlottesville and upstate to ultra-liberal populated northern Virginia. Therefore, my extremely conservative community does not have a voice.

Also, it's their way of virtue signaling. They used to do that by supporting the gay candidate. But no one cares if a person is gay. Heck, we have gay Republicans. Scott Bessent (secretary of the treasury) is gay. So the Democrats feel that they have to support Muslim candidates.

So if Gavin Newsom wins in 2028, the Democratic Party will import immigrants from Muslim countries. They will keep Trump's wall in place because Hispanic immigrants are actually Conservative and they tend to assimilate.

Please tell me what I CAN do about it. I’m 83, on social security, in failing health, and living month to month. I can, and do, vote. I can, and do, voice my opinion. Other than that, what? There are no political leaders in this state I can support, or who give two flips about me or my opinion, because of the gerrymandering.
