Former CNN host Don Lemon unloaded on Stephen A. Smith for being ignorant and “cozying up” to white people.
While he claimed he is not one to criticize black people, Smith left him no choice after the radio host and sports analyst delivered his take on last week’s ICE agent shooting of a Minnesota activist.
“I try not to criticize, especially black men, or just black people in general, you know, because we get so much sh*t. The rules are different for us,” Lemon said on his podcast show. “But Stephen A. Smith goes off and talks about sh*t that he has no idea about.”
In his reaction to the video of the deadly incident in which Renee Good appeared to drive her car toward an ICE agent who discharged his weapon in self-defense, Smith simultaneously wondered why the officer could not get out of the way, but also noted that the law is likely on the side of the agent.
“I saw the video on numerous occasions, and seeing what transpired from a lawful perspective, as it pertains to a law enforcement official, don’t expect him to be prosecuted,” Smith said on his ‘Straight Shooter’ podcast. “He was completely justified,”
“From a humanitarian perspective, however, why did you have to do that? If you could move out of the way, that means you could have shot the tires. That means you could have got a few feet away after you shot the tires, and if you were unsuccessful at doing that, you could have got her down the road,” the ESPN analyst continued.
But Lemon blasted Smith for speaking about something he had “no facts” about, saying he “just gets on these like white boy, right-wing podcasts or his own show and just goes off about black people and things that for which he has no clue.”
“It’s just shocking to me, this sort of cozying up to white people,” Lemon continued after impersonating Smith.
“And it’s gotta be for the money,” he declared.
“If I became a black conservative, I would be richhhhh!” Lemon exclaimed. “Like a gazillionaire.”
He continued to attack the ESPN star for abandoning his “stock and trade” of sports for insulting black people.
“Stop it, you’re embarrassing yourself,” Lemon said. “You’re embarrassing yourself all the way to the bank, but still, it’s embarrassing, for you, for the ancestors, for young black people, and for all black people.”
