Law Professor Jonathan Turley: Trump Did Not Need Congressional Approval to Capture Maduro

George Washington University Law Professor Jonathan Turley is not a conservative, but he is an honest and very smart man. Since the news of Maduro’s capture by the U.S. Military under Trump this morning, he has been pointing out that Trump did not need approval from congress to do this, despite what Democrats are claiming now.

Turley uses the example of Manuel Noriega, who was removed from Panama by the United States in 1989 under similar circumstances. He refers to the actions of other presidents as well.

...Trump does not need congressional approval for this type of operation. Presidents, including Democratic presidents, have launched lethal attacks regularly against individuals. President Barack Obama killed an American citizen under this “kill list” policy. If Obama can vaporize an American citizen without even a criminal charge, Trump can capture a foreign citizen with a pending criminal indictment without prior congressional approval... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UN6iyZMX63g

Cruz may be a lawyer, but a scholar he is not.

The War Powers Resolution (WPR) of 1973 is a federal law determining the President’s power to commit U.S. armed forces to hostilities without Congressional approval, requiring presidential notification within 48 hours and mandating troop withdrawal after 60 days unless Congress authorizes the action or declares war, aiming to restore the balance of power by ensuring legislative input on war.

He can do it if he wishes until he gets a declaration from congress on war or he pulls the troops out in 60 days. Very simple. The WPR was created during the Nixon administration. And a perfect example of it is when Obama sent troops into Abbottabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan to get Bin Laden. And that was murder as he was shot, unarmed, in the head while clinging to two of his wives. But legal murder disguised as combat. At least Maduro is still alive.

Venezuela real power holders did not disappear with the capture of Nicolás Maduro. Speaking with Steve Bannon, Oscar Ramirez explained that while Maduro’s removal is historic, the regime itself remains intact through two men who still control the military, justice system, and cartel networks inside the country.

Remember Pres Trump saying something about a second wave? .I trust what Oscar is saying.

The job is not finished.

This is why Chucky and shifty and co. are going to try and block Trump from unraveling the global election fraud .

Amassing a personal fortune through drug trafficking operations by the Panamanian military, Noriega had longstanding ties with American intelligence agencies before the United States invasion of Panama removed him from power.

Beginning in the 1950s, Noriega worked with U.S. intelligence agencies, and became one of the Central Intelligence Agency's most valued intelligence sources. He also served as a conduit for illicit weapons, military equipment, and cash destined for U.S.-backed forces throughout Latin America.

Of course the U.S. holds the high moral ground here………..to get rid of the bad guys 🤣🤣

Noriega's relationship with the U.S. deteriorated in the late 1980s after the murder of Hugo Spadafora and the forced resignation of President Nicolás Ardito Barletta. Eventually, his relationship with intelligence agencies in other countries came to light, and his involvement in drug trafficking was investigated further.

So Noriega stopped playing ball with US intel and they went after him.

I love how the media completely ignores the fact that the United States has been the number one global narco trafficker for decades.
