A rough year for journalists in 2025, with a little hope for things to turn around
The Associated Press ^ | December 31, 2025 | BY DAVID BAUDER

NEW YORK (AP) — By nearly any measure, 2025 has been a rough year for anyone concerned about freedom of the press.

It’s likely to be the deadliest year on record for journalists and media workers. The number of assaults on reporters in the U.S. nearly equals the last three years combined. The president of the United States berates many who ask him questions, calling one woman “piggy.” And the ranks of those doing the job continues to thin.

It’s hard to think of a darker time for journalists. So say many, including Tim Richardson, a former Washington Post reporter and now program director for journalism and disinformation at PEN America. “It’s safe to say this assault on the press over the past year has probably been the most aggressive that we’ve seen in modern times.”

It’s impossible to look past the influence of President Donald Trump, who frequently seethes with anger at the press while simultaneously interacting with journalists more than any president in memory — frequently answering their cell phone calls.

“Trump has always attacked the press,” Richardson said. “But during the second term, he’s turned that into government action to restrict and punish and intimidate journalists.”

It’s easy to tell just how bad freedom of the press is when one considers just how many reporters have been jailed for criticizing the regime.

Freedom of the press to distort facts, lie, and and manipulate readers at the behest of the Democrat Party

Supposed “freedom of the press” for the past 60 years has proven to be freedom to lie, be biased, actively promote one’s political views, and constantly denigrate any opposing views. Now that others are fighting back, they whine about their supposed journalism being under “attack”. Thus, this past week, USC Journalism school gave “awards” to Rachel Maddow and Scott Pelley, two of the most opinionated and least objective, while condemning “bothsidedness” in supposed journalism, meaning keep forgetting about objectivity and facts. What a howler!

It’s not rough enough unless they’re on a private compound being hunted for sport.

Speaking of the enemedia, a story from the UK. Note the headline and the fact that commem5s aren't allowed on this story...

Nurse 'beaten nearly to death' by 'hospital patient' who was refused appointment

Buried near the end of the article...

...The suspect, a 20 year-old man originally from Afghanistan, was taken to a police station in Merseyside and has now been detained under Section 136 of the Mental Health Act.

Now from the US, a story from ABC News via AP...

SNAP bans on soda, candy and other foods take effect in five states Jan. 1

But get this bit of info at the very end of the article...

The Associated Press Health and Science Department receives support from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute’s Department of Science Education and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. The AP is solely responsible for all content.

I hope all involved get a visit from the IRS.

I wonder if the so called press and journalist ever thought about reporting facts to see what may happen.

Then again maybe the level of assaults and violence needs to be the same as those against ICE. Might help.

One of the biggest news stories of the year was broken by a 23-year-old amateur who had an iPhone and who spent an afternoon visiting “daycare centers” in Minnesota. The big networks and major newspapers lacked the ability to cover news like that.

One more entertaining enemedia factoid, at least 3 states...

CA, IL, and NYS...

...are funneling taxpayer money to “local journalism”.

We’re getting propagandized by people being paid with money seized from us by the people paying the propagandists.

We really don’t hate the enemedia enough, do we.

And the real cherry on the sundae about that one was an article shared here yesterday from CNN that talked about his “MAGA” politics and connections. As if doing your job really matters to the politically correct.

The good news is that the public, certainly the conservative half of that public, ignores and disdains the legacy media such as AP. The bad news is that, as the legacy media has essentially ceased to pretend objectivity, the leftist segment of the public has been brainwashed with the communist propaganda spewed out by AP and their cohorts.

Holy bleep.

Get a load of this. There's a $500 mil slush fund, likely tax exempt, to fund the enemedia. Note the Minnesota tie-in. From January... https://www.nna.org/press-forward-grants-help-newspapers-keep-their-presses-running-and-their-communities-informed

Why I like X - I can direct comments to the sources...

@AP @dbauder
Your very article shows that “journalists” have brought it upon themselves - they want to be able to spout lies with impunity and then cry when someone hits back...
