Police, who held a line at the very gate of the European Parliament in Brussels, Belgium on Thursday were pelted with potatoes by angry farmers worried a new free trade deal will see their livelihoods and industry destroyed.
A government-authorized protest for 50 tractors in Brussels turned into a demonstration with “around 1,000” tractors present and over 7,000 farmers on Thursday.
While the protest largely passed off without incident, there were clashes at the European Parliament building, where farmers threw potatoes and eggs and received tear gas and water cannon in return. […]
The farmers are protesting the forthcoming EU-Mercosur agreement which will open the European trade bloc up to tariff-free trade with Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Bolivia.
Farmers say their livelihoods will be wiped out by competition from considerably cheaper goods produced in huge quantities in countries where mandatory standards are much lower. …

Canada has the same problem. The markets for dairy and poultry produce have been tariff protected ever since rationing during WWII.Trump is ponding Canada for it.
Same with the farmers in Brussels, they do not want to copete internationally and demand tariff protection
so that the consumer cannot access cheaper produce.
In Bith Canada and Belgium, the farmers want to live in a world that no longer exists. They want to stay backward in their own 3rd world nation..
I was thinking that those anti-farmer cops should try and catch those potatoes to feed themselves and their families since that may be the last food they will have access to.
The globalists want to control the food so what better way than to kill off the farmers and farming and have all the food imported and controlled by them
`...in a government authorized protest...`
There were videos of folks doing just that.
Consider for a moment what living in a country with little or no domestic food production. Protecting farmers to a certain extent is a strategic matter. That being said, politicians always seem to make sure that level of protection is always beneficial to themselves politically and financially.
Food fight! I’m with farmers quality of food in general has gotten worse over the course of my life
FOOD FIGHT!................
> they do not want to copete internationally
BS. They don’t want to “compete” loaded down by EU regulations and costs which are already trying to crush them towards the bug eating WEF future of serfdom.
Burying them in food dumped at low cost will put them under, after all high the bureaucracy decides if Euro people eat or don’t.
That is the African pattern. But if first world governments do the same, where does the food come from?
The goal is the elimination of the "un-needed" working class.
I don’t think a week goes by where I don’t thank the Lord that our founding fathers gave us the 1st and 2nd amendments. Farmers futilely hurling potatoes really brings it home.
