Trump unveils new $1 million gold card for visas amid crackdown on immigration
Daily Mail ^ | December 10, 2025 | Stephen M. Lepore

President Donald Trump has unveiled his long-awaited 'gold card' - offering legal status and a pathway to US citizenship for customers willing to pay the $1 million price tag.

The visa is on offer for individuals who can stump up the full amount, while corporations will have to fork out up to twice the amount per foreign-born employee.

A website accepting applications went live as Trump kicked off the program surrounded by business leaders in the White House on Wednesday...

Trump's program will eventually include a separate 'platinum card,' also costing $5million, plus $15,000 in processing fees.

The platinum edition will allow foreign national to live in the United States for up to 270 days per year without having to pay taxes on foreign incomes.

'There is no assurance that the Platinum Card contribution will remain at $5 million, so you should join the wait list now,' the website warns...

'Basically, it's a green card but much better,' Trump said. 'Much more powerful, a much stronger path.'

It is meant to replace EB-5 visas, which Congress created in 1990 to generate foreign investment and was available to people who spend about $1 million on a company that employs at least 10 people.

But the president made no mention of requirements for job creation for applying corporations or on overall caps on the program, which exist under the current EB-5 program.

Trump said he'd heard complaints from business leaders who were unable to recruit outstanding graduates from US universities because they were from other countries and lacked permission to stay.

'You can't hire people from the best colleges because you don't know whether or not you can keep the person,' Trump said.

No, it’s not. Our sovereignty should not be for sale.

In my view, our sovereignty is NOT for sale because each individual will receive screening and a background check.

Trump's plan will be much better than the H1B visa program which hides the significant costs of bringing/assimilating an immigrant as either a resident alien or full citizen.

My wife are retired U.S. citizens living in Japan under a five-year resident alien visa, which we hope will eventually be extended to a permanent alien status.

By the way, the vetting here in Japan is intense. My wife just spent over a month preparing a detailed application, a half-inch think series of documents sent to the Japan immigration office.

I saw this last night on X and thought it was a joke.

I know that President Trump, then Melania, and I think Barron issued BTC in the past. Did they make a profit from those tokens? If so, how much?

Yes , a awful idea .
I am concerned who is running the WH .
Here are recent other bad ideas .
Pardons to full blown dangerous crooks like that Crypto thief who robbed 17000 people of billions and donated millions to only dems . This looked so awful
these Presidential pardons need to be banned .
Handing over the poor Ukraine people to the Russian dictator butcher like coward Chamberlain WWII because he realized it was hard rather standing for freedom and justice and maybe he and that evil NY developer Witkoff can get future Russian real estate deals .
Trying to push Offshore drilling in Fl off its beautiful Gulf beaches which will flip the FL Blue before the midterms while no drilling off his Fl estate .
What the heck is going on here.
The midterms are not looking good .

We need a constitutional amendment to repeal the power of presidents to issue executive pardons. After Biden and now Trump I think we could get bipartisan support for it

A million isn’t much for someone to add American citizenship to their list of citizenships, and chain migration dilutes the cost as everyone you bring in and the babies they all have share in the bounty.

This type of program has been in place for decades thru the SBA....you just never heard of it.....deal is bring $1mm in investment capital and you and your “family” get permanent green cards.

Called the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program (also known as the EB-5 Visa Program), established by Congress in 1990 under the Immigration Act and administered by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

Foreign investors can obtain conditional permanent residency (green cards) for themselves, their spouses, and unmarried children under 21 by investing a minimum amount in a new or existing U.S. commercial enterprise that creates at least 10 full-time jobs for qualifying U.S. workers (not including the investor or family).

It was/is marketed heavily by Development Directors to foreigners as a way to jump start small start-up businesses and other commercial developments.

It is rife with corruption and kick-backs even down at the country level.

This is a great idea — just like Trumps tariffs — try moving to Italy, Spain or dozens of relatively decent countries, they ALL want you to make an investment IN the country if you want to live there more than 1/2 a year.

Trump is, yet again, doing to the rest of the world what the other countries do to US citizens.

Interesting points—thank you. If this program screens people as thoroughly as your wife was screened it’s a consideration. My concern is even if it’s said that intense screening will be part of the process, I don’t trust the embedded Deep State govt workers at places at State Dept to do the vetting. I know these people—they are more interested in Liberal ideology than following rules or caring about our country.

I am not in favor of selling entrance to legal U.S. society and there is some countries I would reject from inclusion in this narcissistic plan of Trump’s.

If it was “for the country” it would not be named the “Trump Gold Card”.
