Howdy, beachy. *Hugz*
Hope you’re staying snug and warm these days. It’s been mighty nippy. Not the best weather for early morning walks. BRRRRR

Hi Everybody!
(((HUGS)))
Howdy, luvie.
Having a grand time with the family? Weather lovely?
We reached mid 50s this afternoon but the wind was rough. The front has gone through now and the temp’s dropping pretty fast.

Thank those serving.
Honor those who served.
NEVER forget the fallen!
Hey there, radu!
It WAS a nice day. It’s 57 right now, as opposed to about 50 at home. Having a nice time here. We went out to dinner for burritos at Freebirds. I’d never heard of it. LOL!
Sorry you had such wind. That can ruin a nice day for sure. And bringing freezing weather is a two-fer for discomfort. Hope it warms up a bit again soon.
Saw too much in 1989.
I'm kinda angry at FR right now, they pulled an educational post because of "solicitation", and then posted a FReepathon thread.
Which is, solicitation.
Sounds like a fun day for y’all. Was the food good at Freebirds. Chain or local mom-and-pop?
The wind did take some of the fun out of being out today. I had to make a quick run to the PO for stamps, then came back and drove Ol’ Betsy out to park next to the shop. She’s let me know she isn’t healthy, fortunately before I sold the Town Car. She had a water leak problem earlier this year that mechanics couldn’t find to repair. One of Petey’s buddies found and fixed the leak but I think the engine got too hot too many times. Not behaving well. The Town Car’s given me no problems so is the better one to keep as back-up.
I hope the wind dies down tomorrow since I have to head out. I have a long coat to keep my legs warm if it’s still blowing. We’ll warm back up to the 50s next week but we have cold to deal with between now and then.
Why the US Sent a WWII “Dinosaur” to Vietnam (1968)

Vietnam, 1968. Surrounded Marines faced annihilation until a WWII relic awoke to answer their call. Why did the USS New Jersey become the “Black Dragon” that terrified the enemy more than any modern jet? In this documentary, Valor Sea reveals the controversial reactivation of the USS New Jersey (BB-62) for the Vietnam War, championed by Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara. We analyze the terrifying power of its Mark 7 16-inch guns, capable of hurling shells the weight of a Volkswagen Beetle over 25 miles. Discover how the analog Mark 8 Rangekeeper computer delivered pinpoint accuracy and why the psychological trauma of its “freight train” sound broke the enemy’s will to fight.
Comments below the video:
“A good friend of mine was in Viet Nam and they were being torn apart by enemy artillery. They called in for support and just like you said there was a voice that said it was the New Jersey. They gave coordinates and were told to sit down by the man on the radio. Then one or two minutes later they all heard ‘the tearing of cardboard’ overhead. Then their butts were lifted off of the ground and then the explosions. There were two salvos. Then silence. Not just the firing from the enemy, but complete silence. Not even from birds. That was the first time his patrol had experienced naval gunfire, and they couldn’t speak for a while. He said they were almost nonfunctional as a fighting force. Needless to say, but there was no more enemy cannons firing. No more enemy small arms firing. NO MORE ENEMY!”
“Hearing 155s and 8-in rounds go over your head is amazing. The 8-inch round sounds like a boxcar turned sideways, with open doors, flying through the air. I can only imagine what those 16 inch naval guns sound like. That sound must be terrifying, and to see a city block disappear with one round would make anyone question their life choices.”
“My second oldest brother served in the Navy. He was assigned to the US New Jersey B62 during Vietnam. He said it was something else to feel the New Jersey rock side to side as they fired those 18-inch guns all at the same time. Talk about a power house. ..’
“I served on the New Jersey off the coast of Beirut in 1982, Marines came aboard for a USO show put on by Bob hope. As I greeted the Marines boarding they expressed their gratitude and amazement at the distance and accuracy of our 16-inch shells as they were sent over their positions and into the hills of the enemy’s positions.”
What about the guy that wanted to buy the town car? He’s going to be pretty disappointed, isn’t he? Sorry Olโ Betsy is dying. Sheโs been a good car.
I hope the wind dies down for you, too. No fun at all when you have to be out in it.
I already called him about it. He and his wife were still mulling it over and hadn’t made a decision.
Like Hubby, he’s always had several cars around at any given time so it isn’t like he’s hurting. LOL
He understands my need for having a dependable vehicle for back-up should one or the other go down. It’s a long walk to any stores.
It isn’t supposed to be AS windy tomorrow but there’ll be wind. My long coat is almost to my ankles so my legs will be warm when walking to the courthouse with Betsy’s tag. I never get to park close. At least I can park close to the restaurant door where the Christmas party will be held. I’m looking forward to that.
That’s good that he won’t be too disappointed not to get the car. Maybe later on, when you don’t feel the need to have two cars. Are you now going to try to sell Ol’ Betsy?
Ooooo....the Christmas party. How fun will that be. Enjoy yourself!
I will always have a 2nd car. I can’t be without transportation where I live.
Another of Hubby’s buddies might want Ol’ Betsy. He’s a mechanic and can tinker with whatever might be wrong. He’s asked about the other station wagon Hubby bought as a parts car for Betsy so maybe he’ll want both.
Yes, the Republican women’s group’s party is tomorrow. It’s always a lot of fun. I’ll need to go to bed early so I’ll be awake enough to enjoy the festivities.
I got a little thrill while watching the weather report tonight. They say we’ll have some 60s Christmas week! I can happily live with that! LOL
