Paul: ‘To Order the Killing of People Shipwrecked Is Clearly Illegal’
Breitbart ^ | Dec 9, 2025 | Pam Key

Posted on 12/10/2025 10:56:59 AM PST by backpacker_c

To order the killing of people shipwrecked is clearly illegal according to military justice, according to our own military laws.

If our pilots have to eject from a plane, we show that we don’t shoot people. We don’t shoot pilots that are descending by parachute.

If we blow up a boat and there are survivors we don’t shoot those people.

We don’t sidle up in a boat and take a nine millimeter pistol out, put it to their head and shoot them. Nobody would do that.”

“But just because the missiles come from a long distance doesn’t make it any more right,”

rand paul is more concerned about protecting drug runners and stopping any attempts to control the flow of drugs coming into the U.S., than he is about the potential billions in fraud committed by somalians and their support of terrorism

Maybe it's because his 'constituents' must include all sorts of drug cartels and other entities involved in the drug trade.

And what's with the contrived examples of 'what aboutisms' rand paul is making up, because he doesn't have any basis to defend his comments?

rand paul is just full of ..... something

There is no need to speculate about ulterior motives. He ran as a libertarian in the mold of his father, mostly. He legislates as such. Sometimes, he will be the lone voice in the wilderness, sometimes he will be just a PITA.

Libertarians mostly came out for Trump in 2024, and that 2% matters.

if they have an issue with killing people literally on their way to continue killing 73,000+ Americans...

then they’re really not going to like when President Trump turns the Marines loose on the cartels. In the US and all other locations in this hemisphere

To those who defend Rand Paul on this site, just admit you hate President Trump.

This fool is on a mission to destroy the Republican Party and to give power back to the democrats.

We bombed the survivors of the SS Minnow.

The lefties would have killed Skipper (power threat), the Howells (and take the cash he liked to have around). Ginger would be executed unless she came to an arrangement with the powers that be. The professor would be enslaved. Gilligan would be promoted, but worked quite hard. Maryann would have to do all the island work as well.

The man's an idiot on foreign policy and always has been.

What he's arguing is that the same as saying in WWII that once a Japanese ship was disabled, we couldn't sink it.

Moronism.

We are blowing up the boat.

If you are blown off the boat into the water you are safe as long as you do not attempt to get back on the boat.

If you get back on the boat you are continuing the fight.

You are a legitimate target.

That is actual military law.

Paul is just going to have to deal with it or he can get a bunch of his fellows in Congress together and rewrite the UCMJ.

That is also an option.

But he can not expect us to join him in his interesting fantasy world.

This is a lot, even for Rand (so-very-Pious!) Paul.
He must have something to directly lose by having such transporting operations threatened by American law.
What might that be?
Certain constituents and their expected donations?

Vessels with no nation’s flag displayed are PIRATES under international law. Sink the boats and all the crew.

Radical libertarians like Rand think the drug trade should be legal. So in his mind the federal government is interfering with deadly force in a commercial activity.

Also radical libertarians are not Constitutionalists! The Constitution does allow the government to place certain limitations on human activity. These types of libertarians want none of that.

I agree. Do not get back on the boat. Simple as that.

Perhaps we should have let the survivors cling to a sinking boat 13 miles from the nearest shoreline.

To constantly run down our country, especially in wartime, which is exactly where we are, is to forfeit any claim to leadership. I am sick of Mister Paul and his ilk.

Horse shit. Look up the Battle of the Bismarck Sea, 1943, on Wikipedia:

"On the evenings of 3–5 March, PT boats and planes attacked Japanese rescue vessels, as well as the survivors from the sunken vessels on life rafts and swimming or floating in the sea. This was later justified on the grounds that rescued servicemen would have been rapidly landed at their military destination and promptly returned to active service,[58] as well as being retaliation for the Japanese fighter planes attacking survivors of the downed B-17 bomber.[10] While many of the Allied aircrew accepted these attacks as being necessary, others were sickened.[59][51]"

The British in World War Two had a policy of always attacking German air/sea rescue planes and ships trying to pick up downed German pilots at sea.

War is war.
