Pickup truck enthusiasts rejoiced this week after President Donald Trump moved to roll back auto regulations, paving the way for smaller, cheaper cars and trucks, including the storied Toyota Hilux Champ.
“We’re officially terminating Joe Biden’s ridiculously burdensome, horrible actually, CAFE (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) standards that impose expensive restrictions and all sorts of problems,” Trump said at an Oval Office press conference Wednesday.
Addressing the ease of restrictions, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy affirmed, “He gave me the directive to clear the regulations on this, which we have, and so if Toyota or any other company wants to make smaller, more affordable cars, fuel-efficient, we have cleared the deck so they can make them in America and sell them in America.”

When they come in and sell like hotcakes, maybe our own car makers will take note. Not gonna hold my breath
Would love a Toyota Hi-Lux especially with the 14.5 in the bed.
Can I get one with the pintle-mounted DShK standard?
😎
There has been a war on American cars by the Dems for fifty years.
I don’t understand the hype for the Hilux? How different is it form a Tacoma?
I WILL buy one. Possibly two. I’m not kidding. You can’t kill these things!!!
Yup, it’s an accessory, like air conditioning.
I’ll take one, just what I need to haul brush and shit from Home Depot. Plus my kids will find numerous uses I’m certain. $12k, maybe I’ll get 2. Do they have air, I need air?
Now you don’t have to be ISIS to purchase one.
More affordable, more fuel-efficient, better selection.
If I can get a four-door Hilux 2.8L diesel in four-wheel drive, shut up and take my money!
Fun fact: I blew up a new(ish) Hilux in Afghanistan in 2010 with a Hellfire missile. I cried a little, but it was for a good cause.

The Toyota Isis (or iSt) was a popular 7-seater Japanese MPV (minivan) sold from 2004-2017, known for its spacious, versatile interior with sliding "Panorama Open Doors" for easy access, competing with models like the Honda Stream, and available with 1.8L or 2.0L engines, often featuring front-wheel or four-wheel drive
I owned a 1995 Hilux for 14 years (Hilux and Tacoma overlapped in 1995). Replaced it with an 8-year old Ranger in 2009. It's still going. Rangers were pretty good too, but the CAFE regs forced Ford to stop making them.
It would be sweet.
The truck used by terrorists and militia armies world wide.
Do they come with gun mounts…or do those cost extra?

Too be fair, any pickup is going down to a Hellfire.
