Rubio Announces New U.S. Foreign Aid Model That Cuts Out NGOs

The truth is that our foreign aid had become a joke — a way to line pockets and spread wacko leftist ideology more than anything. Rubio told ABC's George Stephanopoulos — who tried to do that whole "Trump is killing people by cutting aid" thing — back in September that "We're gonna do more than anyone in the world, again, this year, but we're gonna do it the right way. We're gonna do it holistically. We're gonna do it as part of an integrated foreign policy."

During that interview, Rubio pointed out that the reason why people die is much more nuanced than what the media wants to print. In some regions, wars prevent aid from reaching its target, or gangs steal it before it can reach its intended recipients. In some places, the middlemen, the distributors, simply don't handle it well, etc. The world is not a one-size-fits-all situation, George.

"But the United States has saved more lives and continues to save more lives than any other country in the world," the frustrated Secretary of State continued. "And we're gonna continue to do it, but we're gonna do it the right way and in a responsible way. We're not gonna continue to pour billions of dollars out the door of American taxpayer funds for programs that don't work and in some cases were flat-out corrupt."

NGOs should never receive government money.

The United States is very deep in debt. So here’s an idea. Cut out foreign aid entirely.

If another nation wants advice or technical expertise, fine. Oblige them.

But no more of this borrowing money, then sending it overseas.
Just stop.

"Marco Rubio announces a new Trump Administration policy to give foreign aid directly to governments instead of bloated NGOS.

"If we're trying to help counties, help the country. Don't help the NGO to go in and find a new line of business.""

We need to do it because the Democratic Party is benefitting from the corruption.

But we are spending all the $$$ on entitlement programs and Defense. Elon Musk did not have an opportunity to use DOGE so we have no idea what they are doing with Pentagon's "Black Budget".

We used to give money directly to government but the leaders would keep it instead of helping the people.

We swapped to giving it to NGOs but they keep it instead of helping the people, plus they use it to worsen the US.

How about we just quit giving TAXPAYER MONEY to both and use it for the US?

No funds for foreign aid, the war is long over, they wanted the blood of our nations youth then they wanted our nations wealth. They got both.

NGOs are the quintessential “trickle down” economy. The people they’re supposed to assist only receive a pittance after “expenses” of the bureaucratic bureaucrats

There are some NGO’s that are worthwhile. S.C.O.R.E. is an example of a good use of taxpayer money. (https://www.score.org/) SCORE uses volunteer retired executives to mentor small business owners on things like how to create a business plan, how to create a small business, how to set up e-commerce, how to exit your business, online marketing for small business owners, etc. Their goal is to improve the entrepreneur’s potential for success, which means converting people getting assistance into taxpayers. SCORE does raise money from individuals, but they also get funding from the government.

‘Non-profits’ are another huge scam. No one works for free.

Humm I bet you that now our government will give money to the countries, and I wouldn’t doubt some of these government give money to the some of the good NGO’s under the table. I’m sure there will be some secret back room deals involved some how.

Providing SCORE with federal funds is a violation of the 9th and 10th amendments. The activities you mention are very good ideas and worth supporting - as individuals. Government has no business being involved with serving people’s private agendas, which this is an example of.
