The concerns surrounding Trump’s immigration clampdown in the Tar Heel state speak to a tension at the center of the president’s immigration agenda.
Patrick Sebastian, a GOP pollster based in North Carolina, said voters “draw a clear line” between deporting immigrants who are living in the country illegally and working but not breaking other laws, and unauthorized immigrants who have committed crimes.
“In purple states, there’s broad support for removing the latter — and the left looks foolish protesting that,” Sebastian said. “But the other narrative has gotten more play over the past week, and that could be a problem for Republicans.”
Trump administration officials have defended the administration’s North Carolina efforts, with DHS Secretary Kristi Noem telling Fox this week that the agency is going after the “worst of the worst,” people who have “committed robberies, assaults, DUIs, getting them off the streets and keeping people safe.”
A senior White House official, granted anonymity to speak about internal thinking, argued that the president is making good on his campaign to execute mass deportations. The official said the previous administration allowed for millions of unauthorized immigrants to enter the country.
“The only way to fix that problem and solve it is to aggressively deport these illegal criminals,” the official said. “And so the administration is definitely going to keep doing that.”
The Department of Homeland Security said Thursday that “Operation Charlotte’s Web isn’t ending anytime soon,” as some North Carolina residents remain on edge. Some local businesses are closed, and residents have gone into hiding. Viral videos filmed by locals have made national news, and Democratic Gov. Josh Stein warned that “masked, heavily armed agents in paramilitary garb” were targeting American citizens and “racially profiling.”
A DHS spokesperson said on Thursday the enforcement surge in the Charlotte area...

They just make stuff up.
Someone tell this bitch that the Dems admitted the strategy was to replace conservatives with illegals so that they would never have a voice again.
So yes, it’s worth it and they all have to go.
Some voters maybe. Certainly not all. Me, for example.
What is the price of not doing it?
Just enforce the law, Sebastian. Just enforce the law.
This guy should STFU
Every illegal has broken US law, and continues to break it by staying here
Even if they aren't smuggling drugs or raping children, they are suppressing wages, they are creating a burden on infrastructure, they are tapping into Fed.gov programs, they are spiking medical costs etc, etc.
Where are the poll results for not enforcing laws?
Patrick Sebastian, a GOP pollster based in North Carolina,
The price is forever poverty for black residents because no construction - career building - jobs were available to them.
Now, if they are smart, these construction companies need to be going into high schools and recruiting.
So only enforcing the laws they like? They’re illegal gimmigrants, taking from American workers for free.
“...illegal gimmigrants...”
GREAT phrase!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!
Someone fire that fool before they pick him to run for governor there!
True. Not doing it means more trillions in taxpayer money going to take care of their free health care, dental care, social security/disability, home repairs and mortgage subsidies, maternity and child care, phones, energy subsidies, cars….. the list is endless….just so they can vote for demoncrats when they’re not even citizens and are on the public dole.
1) So far the deportations have been overwhelmingly focused on picking up criminals. The Dems have obstructed, lied, attacked, and freaked out just the same as ever, even when it’s gangbangers, rapists, murderers, thieves, fraudsters, drug dealers, etc. being picked up. (And that’s why Trump really needs to pick up the deportations now, not lower them to a trickle like the RINOs demand—the reaction will be the same anyway.)
2) The RINOs are trying to convince us to let almost all the illegals that the Democrats flooded the country with stay forever and eventually become good Democrat voters cancelling out the votes of tens of millions of Americans and establishing Democrat one-party rule. I’d personally call this a betrayal of the American people.
3) We don’t even have a country if the Democrats can throw open the border entirely for four years, flood the country with millions upon millions of illegals, and then a Republican gets elected as a hardliner against illegal immigration, but he’s only allowed to deport a tiny fraction of all the new illegals (much less of them all). This would just show how everything is set against the American citizens and in favor of the people with the real power in this nation always getting their way.
This being said, I really think Trump and the Republicans need to do a MUCH better effort at countering all the Democrat lies. The Dems have convinced people of the craziest nonsense in their efforts to dehumanize ICE and Republicans and to terrorize their own base (as a way of motivating them politically). The GOP needs to start correcting the record in ways that regular Americans will hear, and not just on Fox News or their social media accounts.
Democrats: "You say that as if it is a bad thing. Keeping the coloreds on the bottom of the social and economic ladders forever is the point of the whole thing."
“What is the price of not doing it?”
Bingo. Small things like losing all respect for law & order, illegals openly rioting, loss of the Republic.
Just another CoC RINO.
The alternative is to activate militias and let the go to it.
So they hire lots of illegals. Deport them all.
