GOSHEN — The wife of an Orange County highway superintendent charged with attempted murder for shooting a lost DoorDash delivery worker earlier this year was indicted this week for allegedly deleting video evidence related to the case against her husband.

Selina Nelson-Reilly, 45, was arraigned on charges that included hindering the prosecution and 17 counts of tampering with physical evidence, Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler announced Friday.

Nelson-Reilly’s husband, John Reilly III, was indicted following the May 2 shooting that left the DoorDash worker, a West African immigrant living in Middletown, with severe injuries that required multiple surgeries. Reilly, who is the town of Chester’s highway superintendent, has pleaded not guilty to the charges, which also include assault and criminal possession of a firearm. He is scheduled to stand trial in February.

After speaking with investigators, Nelson-Reilly allegedly deleted 17 videos from the couple’s doorbell camera installed at the house. Prosecutors allege she later texted a friend saying she had permanently deleted the videos.

Nelson-Reilly later told detectives that she didn’t know anything about the shooting and “denied knowing anyone came to the residence,” according to prosecutors.

Sigh. I’m old enough to remember when Charles Nelson Reilly was on the TV series “The Ghost and Mrs. Muir.” Mrs. Muir was played by actress Hope Lange. The ghost was a deceased sea captain, and an ancestor of Charles Nelson Reilly’s nervous character.

And the ghost was played superbly by Edward Mulhare and the housekeeper Martha was played by the great Reta Shaw (who, coincidently, also appeared in the Don Knotts comedy movie, "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken"). Loved the series as a kid. It ran around 1968.

I think the sea captain was played by Edward Mulhare. Just checked, that was him. He was also in Knight Rider. I remember Hope Lange and him but not Reilly.

Delivery work is risky. People who work these jobs have been attacked and sometimes killed, even when they show up at the correct address.

I hope the victim will be all right. The couple belongs in prison.

Being partially disabled, I use Door Dash all the time and have found their drivers to be generally good and competent. It’s often a first job for legal immigrants. For God’s sake give them a break. Could be one of your kids. Also, what happens if people stop driving? A really vital service will be lost.

I’m not against delivery drivers. They have an important job. Just saying the job can be risky. Several relatives work those kinds of jobs, and they have been attacked and even robbed. I’ve avoided that kind of work so far because of the dangers.

Reta Shaw also was in a few Andy Griffith episodes. Once as Maude, an escaped convict who captures and holds hostage Barney and Floyd. In another episode, as Barney’s singing teacher.

As a singing teacher, how come she was the only one in town who couldn’t tell what an awful singer Barney was?

Used to watch the ghost and mrs muir in daily syndicated reruns as a kid in the 1970s. Then they removed it from the airwaves, never to be seen again. As a result, I dont remember the episodes the way I have memorized the episodes of other classic tv shows. But the opening theme of ghost and mrs. muir has remained in my memory all these years.

Fast forward a few decades. I’m doing some aimless surfing on youtube when i run across full episodes of this show posted there. I begin to watch one and the instant the opening theme played, i was flooded and overwhelmed with fond, nostalgic memories of myself as a kid, sitting in front of the living room tv, watching my favorite classic tv shows, movies and cartoons.

If the driver is in the country illegally then deportation
should be utilize. Or maybe a process could be used in a
effort to use their services in an effort to reduce Federal
expenses. jmo

I loved watching that show (The Ghost & Mrs. Muir) growing up. It was reruns, syndication, whatever you want to call it, but entertaining for this little kid that I was back then.
