Vice President JD Vance has maintained a narrow lead over Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom in the latest hypothetical poll for the 2028 presidential race, according to a survey from Emerson College.
The poll shows Vance with 46% support, while Newsom trails closely with 45%, leaving 10% of participants undecided. While neither figure has formally announced a presidential bid, both are widely considered the likely frontrunners for their respective parties in the next election.
A Tightening Contest
The results are the latest in a series of head-to-head match-ups conducted by Emerson College, which indicate a tightening race. Vanceโs current one-point lead is slightly smaller than his less than one-point advantage found in a late August poll, and down from a 3% lead he held in July.
Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College Polling, noted that the โhypothetical 2028 matchup between Vance and Newsom also remain[s] unchanged, suggesting a polarized electorate where individual issues may not be enough to sway overall opinion.โ

Who out there could possibly think, “Please, Gavin, do for the nation what you’ve done for California”? It’s very sad that approximately 45% of the people in this country are stupid, insane or both.
Emerson does some of the worst (or best, if you’re a Dem operative) polling out there.

That is because pretty much only California residents know what a piece of s**t that Gruesome Newsom is. If Newsom is the best the Dems have to offer, by the time of the Presidential campaign in 2028, the whole of America will know all about Newsom, and I suspect he will not even get the nomination.
The question is which of this crew, Newsom, Pritzker Schumer or Jeffries is more disgusting. Toss a coin. They all suck and compete with each other as to who can tell the biggest and most outrageous lies.
Full disclosure: I already had a prejudiced loathing for half the American voting public.
