Supreme Court to run out of money from government shutdown this weekend, federal courts next week

Federal judges will continue their necessary work during the shutdown, but staff will only be allowed to perform certain protected activities on duty. The judges and their staff will not receive pay until the shutdown is over.

The United States Supreme Court is expected to run out of government funding on Saturday, and other federal courts will be impacted by the government shutdown early next week.

The Supreme Court is expected to remain in session during the shutdown but will need to close its doors to the public starting Monday, Supreme Court public information officer Patricia McCabe said in a statement.

“The Supreme Court will continue to conduct essential work such as hearing oral arguments, issuing orders and opinions, processing case filings, and providing police and building support needed for those operations," McCabe told The Hill.

Federal judges will continue their necessary work during the shutdown, but staff will only be allowed to perform certain protected activities on duty. The judges and their staff will not receive pay starting Monday, until the shutdown is over.

"Until the ongoing lapse in government funding is resolved, federal courts will maintain limited operations necessary to perform the Judiciary’s constitutional functions," the administrative office of the U.S. Courts said.

"Each appellate, district, and bankruptcy court will make operational decisions regarding how its cases and probation and pretrial supervision will be conducted during the funding lapse," the office added.

The Judiciary branch was able to cover its paid operations through Oct. 17, and additional work performed over the weekend will be covered by court fee balances and other funds not dependent on appropriation.

Good, at least the leftist judges cannot make a ruling if they can’t hold court.

Defund all of the leftist US District Judges.

Transfer the money to the Non-woke District Judges.

Never heard of the Supreme Court running out of money for any other shut downs. Not too sure I believe this. I don’t think they get paid every two weeks....like normal employees.

No injunctions from lower courts then. Send in the troops!

Maybe the federal courts could open up lemonade stands by the side of the road.
That’s what I did when I was young, and needed money.

(Bow tie not required, but highly recommended.)

“Federal judges will continue their necessary work during the shutdown”

In other words , the TROs and injunctions will continue to flow.

They and all their staffs WILL receive their pay.
They always do. I have no sympathy for them or any federal employee, who over forty years of shutdowns have never missed a dime.

John Roberts is the head administrator of the entire federal court system. It would take resolve to overcome the deep state administrators infesting the courts(so of course it won’t happen) but he could de-fund the lower courts to keep the appellate courts moving.

Figure out menial tasks for the lefties.

Kagan—Squeegee woman with a stern face demanding money from drivers stuck in gridlock.

Sotomayor—cleaning and transporting portable toilets for outdoor events.

Brown Jackson—snake and alligator handler for the National Zoo.
