With two and a half weeks before Election Day in New York City, Zohran Mamdani is maintaining his front-runner status while independent candidate Andrew Cuomo and Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa struggle to chip away at his support. Ahead of the race’s first of two general-election debates, Mamdani achieved a significant milestone as he hit 50 percent in a poll for the very first time in the race.
In a Fox News poll released Thursday, Mamdani received 52 percent from likely voters, followed by Cuomo with 28 percent and Sliwa with 14 percent. Among registered voters, Mamdani dipped slightly to 49 percent while Cuomo held at 28 percent and Sliwa got 13 percent. The poll surveyed 1,003 New York City registered voters from October 10 to October 14.
Unlike a recent Quinnipiac University poll, the Fox News poll included Mayor Eric Adams, whose name will still be on the ballot this November despite the fact that he dropped his beleaguered reelection bid last month. The incumbent mayor received 2 percent among likely voters and 3 percent from registered voters.
Earlier this month, political experts spoke to Politico about the importance of Mamdani clearing the 50 percent benchmark come November as a way to ensure he enters City Hall with a clear mandate from the voters. While the assemblymember has long held a double-digit lead over Cuomo and Sliwa, their combined support signals that there are some New Yorkers who are still not in favor of backing Mamdani.
The Fox News poll also took a look at voter enthusiasm regarding the three candidates. Among Mamdani voters, 75 percent said they were either “extremely” or “very” enthusiastic about voting compared to 59 percent of Sliwa...

“Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard”.
H.L. Mencken
In a way, this reminds me of the Turkish Muslim assault on the Christian city of Constantinople in 1453.
The Christian West should have united against the Muslims. But instead they chose to ignore the threat, and fuss among themselves.
And so the city fell. Just like NYC will do.
Escape from New York won’t be cheap or easy
Let them learn the hard way as their tax base moves out. Wall Street can be anywhere these days.
DeBlasio was as bad as this guy and he was elected twice. NYC is going to be a no go zone.
I don’t care what the polls say. It’s all about the turnout and rigging the count.
Pop the corn and let NYC FAFO
Idiot NYers just want to elect this guy to teach Trump a lesson. I truly believe they will regret their decision.
Ma’amdami is getting the Obama treatment. Voter’s are falling for the glib talk, freebie promises and radical chic. The hang over is going to be severe.
For many years, I’ve heard that New York City’s water is special.
There’s definitely something in it! And, I’m not talking alligators.
New York is beyond saving. I will never traverse to these worthy Democratic hell holes.
He also defined Puritanism as “the haunting fear that someone, somewhere, may be happy.”
That’s pretty funny.
It’s a city I was privileged to visit nine times. I can never go back now with the communists in charge.
Can’t be saved any more than the people of Sodom could save themselves.
The real losers if Mamdamni wins? Upstate NY Taxpayers. You think the roads are bad now?
Mencken’s quote couldn’t be more apt for the situation. I hope Nu Yawkers get it, and hard.
Well he can’t be much worse than the mayors of Chicago, Los Angeles and Boston. 🙄
Yes- Build a wall around it just like the movie. Vet anyone who wants to leave to make sure they don’t belong there.
I hope he loses, but let’s be honest. NYC deserves him. At least they can be our canary in the coal mine.
