Law enforcement officials have identified the 16 victims who died in an explosion at a munitions plant in the state of Tennessee.
The names were released during a press briefing on Monday outside Accurate Energetic Systems in Hickman County, where an early-morning blast levelled a company building on 10 October. There were no survivors.
Sheriffs Chris Davis of Humphreys County and Jason Craft of Hickman County alternated reading the victims' names and emphasised a "need to take care" of their families at this time.
No cause of the blast has been identified. Agents from the national Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) are investigating.
The victims are Jason Adams, Erick Anderson, Billy Baker, Adam Boatman, Christopher Clark, Mindy Clifton, James Cook, Reyna Gillahan, LaTeisha Mays, Jeremy Moore, Melinda Rainey, Melissa Stanford, Trenton Stewart, Rachel Woodall, Steven Wright and Donald Yowell.
The sheriffs said the individuals are presumed dead, and the release of their names does not mean their remains have been identified. That process is ongoing.
Sheriff Davis said that one victim was a teacher, another was his neighbour's husband and another one was one of his best friends, according to local newspaper, The Tennessean.
The sheriff had previously described the blast as one of the most devastating incidents of his career.

Maybe the burned structure, which would provide clues is still too dangerous to be closely surveyed.
Either bad luck, poor maintenance or sabotage, one of the three. Those poor surviving families. Anytime would be horrible, but to begin the end of year Holiday Season like this will only highlight their losses.
Maybe FEMA will provide some help, without regards to the political party they voted for last year.
With the intensity of modern military explosives, we may never know the exact cause.
Listening to the sheriff it sounded like they may be trying to make sure there’s no remains maybe? Then they have to remove any explosives left.
Maybe bits and pieces, all of which they will never be able to collect. Looks worse than the twin towers explosion, on a miniscule scale. Vaporized.

It looks like it even blasted all the asphalt off the driveway and the parking lot.
I looked this place up on Google maps and I have to say it is out in the middle nowhere. There are at “least” 5 buildings on this property, and they are well spaced apart. I would say that the main office building is down close to the highway. Interesting place.

Incredible! I know Trump and Team can only do so much, and most of that is focused on current events, but this one deserves some attention. Urgent matters left undone by the

My ex’s grandfather lived a couple of miles from that place. (Off the Bucksnort exit). And another poster got it EXACTLY right. There’s NOTHING out there. That company is probably the major employer for people in that area.

Not a lie at all. The number and names of those working at the explosion site are known. They’re presumed dead because they were disintegrated by the explosive force involved.
The company had been cited for poor training of the employees in the past. That could be a possibility.
There isn’t much to investigate. They are looking for anything for DNA identification of the victims.

Good movie plot there. Bad guy blows up his place of work to kill a person who’s blackmailing him over an unrelated crime. Bad guy steps out, runs away to nearby bicycle the woods just before bomb on timer blows up the place, gets declared dead because he checked in at work and his car was there.
