Immergut, appointed to the federal bench by Trump during his first term, has issued two rulings blocking the deployment of National Guard troops, drawing the president’s ire.
Late Sunday, federal judge Karin J. Immergut issued a temporary restraining order blocking President Donald Trump’s plan to send California National Guard troops to Portland, Oregon. It was her second ruling against Trump in two days that triggered his ire: On Saturday, Immergut also blocked Trump from federalizing the Oregon National Guard, writing that his administration’s arguments for doing so “risk blurring the line between civil and military federal power — to the detriment of this nation.”
Responding to the first order, Trump complained that he “wasn’t served well by the people that pick judges.” But it was Trump himself who appointed Immergut to the federal bench. Before that, Immergut had a lengthy career in public service, including personally interviewing Monica Lewinsky and contributing to the 1998 independent counsel report that led to the impeachment of President Bill Clinton.
Immergut did not immediately return a request for comment Monday. Here is more on her background.
Trump appointed her during his first term
In late 2018, Trump nominated Immergut for a lifetime federal judgeship in the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon. The Senate Judiciary Committee reported Immergut’s nomination out of committee by a 20-2 vote: The two who opposed her were Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii) and then-senator Kamala Harris (D-California). Immergut was confirmed by the Senate in 2019 by voice vote.
Trump does not appear to know or remember Immergut well, as the president repeatedly mistakenly referred to the judge as a man on Sunday, as he railed against the temporary restraining order.
“I appointed the judge, and he goes...”

McTurtle dictated the appointments.
Picture??
Good thing there are 48 other states to send guards from.
Allow me to search engine that for ya: https://search.brave.com/images?q=Karin+Immergut
Camera broke. (old style joke, sorry)
Judges are not in the military chain of command.
Thank you.
A talk radio host today said we can call sympathize with Trump but as in the first term he seems to trust people he should not trust.
Whomever among his advisors told him to nominate this Immergut was wrong and Trump was wrong to do so.
She spouts woke nonsense like a women’s talk show guest.
And well all suffer for it.
I believe she put a halt to that, too.
Mitch McConnell. Plain old blackmail.
The judge was nominated by the two Oregon Democrat Senators and was passed ‘Blue Slip.’
A commie.
Ms Always Good...sucks.
Nicht so immer gut, ich denke!
Y’all didn’t pay attention in your civics classes.
Trump can ignore any federal judge as he sees fit.
Judges do not have power, the executive office
does.
Quote
“John Marshall has made his decision; now let him enforce it!” president Andrew Jackson 1832 or so.
Only Congress can remove Trump from office.
They have not been inclined to do so in the past.
So he can ignore Democrat judges as he sees fit
to do so.
I actually forgot that about the Turtle from the bad old days of his harm.
But then it will never end.
Letting the USSC swat them down hard is the permanent solution.
Trump knows how to play the long game.
The Democrats specifically chose her.
Why?
Can someone tell how an appointed judge can rule in matters regarding the military? She seems to be way out of her lane here.
