In the wake of Charlie Kirk’s assassination, Ilhan Omar tweeted out an Anti-Defamation League chart that purports to prove that right wingers perpetrate the majority of politically motivated murders in the United States.
This ADL graph is very popular with left wingers. The problem is that it’s based on one of the most dishonest reports you’ll ever read.
The ADL has long padded its “right-wing extremism” by including incidents of non-ideological criminality by perpetrators suspected of being white supremacists.
This year, though, virtually none of the incidents listed by the ADL as having been committed by “white supremacists” or “far-right anti-government extremists” seem to have any political motivation.
The list includes murders that occurred during attempted prison escapes, sex crimes, robberies and family squabbles, none of which has anything to do with furthering the tenets of white supremacy or any cause.
On the other hand, the assassination of Brian Thompson, CEO of UnitedHealthcare, was explicitly ideological in nature — the shooter wrote an anti-capitalist manifesto.
Yet the ADL did not categorize it as a left-wing attack, and did not include it in its list of extremist murders at all.
Many similar surveys of political violence, including from the FBI, suffer from similar problems.
The most infamous example is the Global Terrorism Database, widely used by the researchers who compile these reports, which counted the Las Vegas mass shooter who murdered 59 people in 2017 as right-wing “anti-government extremist.”
In truth, we have no clue what that shooter’s motivations were, unless the GTD has inside information from the FBI.
Of the 32 other incidents the organization labeled right-wing terrorism that year, 12 were merely “suspected” of being on the right (mostly because they had white skin).

You know why those studies show that? They exclude school shootings and will exclude CK’s shooting. Those shootings are not considered political.

The Left equates words with violence. The wrong kind of words, that is. The closer they are to the truth, the more violent they become.

When you ask a left wing outlet to define right wing and count shootings right wingers commit, this is the drivel your gonna get. In other news, bears defacate in forested areas.
They are a clear example of “selection bias” and “confirmation bias”.
The other thing is who defines what is “right wing” and “left wing”.
Both Hitler and Mussolini always considered themselves “men of the left”.
They were national socialists instead of international socialists.
As political constructs, “Left” and “Right” are meaningless. All they’re good for is pigeon-holing and stigmatizing those whose ideologies you disagree with.
Any time you those terms being applied in a news story, the author is either lying or being intellectually lazy.
Studies by the left about a hell of a lot of things are bogus. Latest studies show their studies have a 99% chance of being wrong.
The left is an apparatus of pathological lying. There isn’t any political violence from “the right”. The white supremacists they often claim to be right wing are in fact on the Left. We need to stop using the incoherent and illogical European definition of left and right. Any person, organization or ideology that espouses the expansion of state power at the expense of the individual is on the left. Nazi Germany, Stalinist Russia and Islamist Iran are all on the left.
I have a simple definition.
Left = state.
Right = liberty
Of course they are.
Obama’s DHS came out with the first report that white supremacists are domestic threats. Specifically it identified white veterans as prone to terrorist violence. The report was bogus and used to divert attention away from left wing radicals. No left wing stat on any topic is credible.
A point that needs to be very publically hammered home every day in these times.
One example if “white supremacist” is the 2011 shooting of dem. congresswoman Gaby Giffords.
They only truth in it is that the guy was white and Giffords was a Democrat.
The guy was in reality a paranoid schizophrenics, who shot Giffords, because her grammar was upsetting him.
According to people who knew him, he was actually leftist, and one of the dead victims was Republican chief judge Roll, so it should be spun the other way and counted as another example of left wing terrorism.
In fairness, he was soo sick, that they had to forcibly medicate him for quite a while to be even able to stand trial.
Totally sick, no political motive whatsoever, but they blamed and still blame it of Republicans, and Sarah Palin in particular!
The media is trying to mention this as contra example for Charlie’s murder!
It is NOT!
The ADL has only a smidgen more credibility than the SPLC.
