Manitoba's premier says comments a cabinet minister reposted about U.S. conservative activist Charlie Kirk on the day he was shot are concerning, but that she will remain in cabinet.
Families Minister Nahanni Fontaine shared a message from @che_jim, a U.S.-based Indigenous activist, for several hours Thursday on her Instagram page before removing it.
The post criticized Kirk as a "racist, xenophobic, transphobic, Islamophobic" individual who "stood for nothing but hate."
Premier Wab Kinew said Friday he spoke to Fontaine after he found out about the post and asked her to issue an apology.
"I wrote my will before the last election … because I recognize that there is a non-zero possibility that being a person in the public eye, I can be, you know, somebody who has some violent thing like this happen," Kinew told reporters during an unrelated announcement about funding for a permanent home for the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation.
"I asked our minister to apologize because I want us to be … a force for openness and dialogue and taking the temperature down," Kinew said.

That woman, and her direct superior, need to be permanently banned from the U.S.. AT A MINIMUM.

Likely not. She be ‘First Nation’, aka ‘Native’, aka ‘indigenous’. In other words, in PRC (Politically Repressive Canaduh) she is ‘without sin’, or at least, untouchable.
Only average Canadian citizens have their right to free speech taken away.

Being in politics she is now much more vulnerable after making those vile statements. Her opponents hopefully never let her forget it.
I hope that was or will be vetted. She looks to me like an Upper West Side lily white liberal.

The Premier of Alberta, potential 51st State, is Danielle Smith. The only thing similar between Kinnew and Smith, is their job title, Premier.
It is AB and SK that are most conservative and most likely to want to join the US. MB? No, they just do their own thing, in the West, but not really ‘Western’ in their PoV. They are more like ‘Western Northern Ontario’ than a Western Province.

Personally, I hope that she is denied entry by US Customs(?), when she tries to holiday State-side, in the winter!
US Customs Officer:

Fontaine (indignantly):
“Do you know who I am!?!?”
US Customs Officer:
“I know EXACTLY who you are! Therefore, I ask you to return to Canada, NOW!”
Before anyone jumps on me, for mistaking the US border guards, I do not have a passport, as I never had the money to travel. The last time I entered the US, I didn’t need a passport.
